Alrighty...then! A Richmond Radio...Days of Future Passed of sorts!

I liked the switch-a-roo on the frequencies. When they happen for real, it can get rather confussing remembering where things were/are (Richmond's Radio One prime example). My take on that would be... What if we... brought back dream teams from the Days of Future Past... sorry lol (great album & title), and they challenged one another. A radio dream war or sorts.. What if the W-Lee team (I wish they'd stayed around a little longer) of the late 60's Shane, Terry Jordan, Dick Ruse, Bill James, Harvey Hudson...etc,etc took on. Say, The XL 102 team of Jeff & Jeff, Dick Hungate, Midnight Max (remember him) as well as, The early Q94 Dj's Steve Hendrix, Bill Garcia, Bob Somers, Tom Ogburn, The Doctor... The Love Brothers...ah remember them from Ez104 FM!!!Lite 98's Bill Bevins, Adam Stubbs... WGOE's crew... WEET,WRNL, WRVA of yesterday...Dick Hemby, Jim Jacobs, Tim Timberlake, Alden Aaroe. WTVR AM or FM's crew, The Buzz, The Beat, WVGO, WRGM, WKIE, WDCK, WMBG, WQSF, The Q Morning Zoo of the 80's..."Hot Damn" Bob-a-Lou", Corey Dietz, Jay Hamilton, Betty Bodine, Roger St. John, Kevin Collins, and we can't forget WANT's Kirby Carmichael, Ben Miles, Chocolate Chip Johnston etc etc. WENZ's Get up and Go show w/Louis Power & Jason Edwards from the mid '80s [how many even remember our show?]. Who would your dream team/s challengers be...??? All of the above!?!
______________

I thank you for your interest! Just those names would be an interesting lineup. I'd probably throw in Garrett Chester in along with Bill and Betty in the morning. NOW THAT, would be a wake up show like no other...lolololol Garrett and Betty bouncing off of one another and Bill playing the straight guy...lololol Garrett is funny and talented...they all are! Again, Thank you!!!

Give some credit to Bill Drake ( where did he get that name) , Dick Grant, and Drew Phinney who were always available to help start a new format, then bounced.

Bill Drake, I've only met a few times, mostly at the Richmond Broadcasters Hall of Fame events. WDCK "The Duck" is the first station I remember hearing Bill on. The station was located in a small shopping center in Quinton, Virginia. Just east of Richmond in New Kent County. WDCK was WQSF Williamsburg...before that WQKS, WBCI, WMBG.... Now as for his name... It may have been just a coincidence that his sirname matched the theme of that station's image. DUCKS! {rabbitt season, Duck Season...fire!!!} Thanks for your dream team!
Here's another one... Louis Power & Jason Edwards (Get-up & Go morning show)
The Bopst Show
Eric E. Stanley (Be-Bop Boogie Blues Review)
Page Wilson (Out of the Blue Radio Review)
W/E ____________ after that line up...who'd work the W/E.
______________

I remember Page Wilson. He had a good show that was creative. He had some kind of swamp motif. As for Bill Drake, he began on WQSF as the overnight guy named Doug something. If you recall BIll Drake began Drake-Chenault consulting that programmed KHJ in LOs Angeles, WRKO in Boston, CKLW in Windsor and a few others. AS BIll DRake was a huge force in radio back in the day, I always wondered if our Bill DRake was not a "Duck" thing, but a salute to the orgional.
Lets not forget Mr. Beach. And for the record, Bill Bevins and Garrett Chester were the morning team when WMXB could not decide if it was hot AC or CHR. Nobody mentioned Alden Aaroe, ( the king before Bill Bevins) and Jack Alix. Nobody remembered when Lou Dean was a DJ playing Soft AC overnights on RVA.

Page the Purveyor of Purebred American Mongrel Music & Buck Toad plus the rest of the Chickahominy Swamp "Out of the Blue Radio Review". Page is still on-the-air with (NPR)WCVE FM. His "Out Of the Blue" show started in the late 80's on then country...WTVR FM. Then with the aid of Bill Ray Communications inc.(radio uplink satellite services) started syndicating the show. A station in Exmore, Va. and one WVA picked up his show. Then Bill Ray moved his operations to North Carolina [bill's home state]. I know this because, I too was in the process of syndicating a show via Ray Communications. Also, In '86 while hosting Saturday Morning Bluegrass on WXGI(as Scott Powers) I featured cuts from Page's album
"Road Tired, Wired and Ready"... I don't remember how he and I tagged up, but we did. We're both attached to Hanover County lolol. And I lived not too far from the Chickahominy Swamp. lolol In "Reckless Abandoned" his local band, the mandolin player, Chris Fuller is my youngest brother's best friend.

Yes, I knew that Garrett Chester and Bill Bevins worked together before on B103!

I Did mention Alden. I'd forgotten that Lou Dean did overnights on RVA... Yes, I used to listen to him too... He was replaced by Big John Trimmble's Trucking Show...lolol live from the truck plaza up in Doswell, Va. AHHH but do you know who RVA originally wanted for that show before bringing on Big John...the other one turned it down. Big John did the Trucking Show for what 17 years(?)before CC came along...and bought RVA. Then Big John went over to WXGI in the mid 90's.
(ironic isn't it)

And Jack Alix was with Q years ago. Jack produced and syndicated "Rock N' Roll Roots". Most recently Jack was with Star turned Oldies 107.3 FM.

Steve "Mr. Beach Leonard..." a crown jewel in Richmond's Beach Music scene. I didn't mean to forget'em... I was just dropping names of the top of my head. I believe he's still with EZ 100.3!

Bill Drake... the other one, the one with old WDCK... Ahh, could be a tribute.. I don't know!

I must be getting altzheimers... Here are some other DJs I'm just now remembering... Steve Forrest and Paul Segrue (I hope I spelled that right), and how can I forget Frank Soden. [My Great Aunt was his secretary at RNL] I love ya, Frank...hope to see you at the next RBHF.
