According to this news article, http://www.bakersfield.com/hourly_news/story/588728.html Mr. Shoop will land at KERO/ABC23. Interestingly, Shoop is taking the weathercaster position left vacant by the departure of Lloyd Lindsay Young. For those who've been around the Bakersfield media market for decades, they may recall that Rusty Shoop originally debuted on Bakersfield TV as a weatherman, at none other than KERO-TV! If memory serves correct, Mr. Shoop performed his original KERO weatherman duties alongside another legendary local news icon, the irreplaceable anchorman, Burliegh Smith.
It's great to see the return of the "warmer" and personable talent that is Rusty Shoop at KERO. Lloyd Lindsay Young was just too eccentric, spastic, and manic to be taken seriously as a credible source of legitimate news and weather information. With Rusty Shoop on board at KERO, TV23 will undoubtedly recapture some viewers that defected during the Lloyd Lindsay Young campaign. By the way, does anyone know if Lloyd Lindsay Young actually landed a television gig in Sacramento? If so, where did he land? More importantly, if he *did* secure a TV gig, *how* did he do it? Surely someone must be responsible for viewing airchecks of his previous work!
Welcome back Rusty!
