Im hoping maybe David Eduardo or another poster can help out a fellow DXer in Phoenix who was hearing 90s Dance music on AM 770 in Phoenix with a very weak signal.. I have no idea what it could be, but one of you fellas south of the Boarder just might be able to help... Im guessing since this guy is in phoenix that the station was most likely from Mexico,,,, It was probably just a specialty show... The only station in the US that airs any Dance music on AM 770 is in Minneapolis, and I doubt he heard that in Phoenix,, This was about 3 nights ago about 8 to 10 PM AZ time... If you guys can help i appreciate it.. If you know about the AM 770s in Mexico and know whether they would or would not play English Dance Music,, let me know..... Oh where is MR Eduardo when I need him?...lol

From the National Radio Club's John Callarman, this is the latest list of stations in Mexico on 770... I suspect Mochis or the Fresnillo station. And yes, you might hear dance on a station in Mexico.

Yes, there are pop stations in Mexico on 770. But it could be Central American or even a local pirate or Part 15 station. Was anything else heard besides the music?

Yes, that's a good point about it being a pirate or Part 15. Phoenix has some of each, too.

Unlikely that it is CA, though. Durning a number of years of DXing from Scottsdale, I heard very very few Centralamerican stations, and find the same from my current place in Prescott. Even Chiapas and Oaxaca were hard catches, although Tabasco and Yucatan and even Campeche were qute easy at times.

Thanks so much for the info guys,, It wasnt me that heard the station,, but the station was heard by a friend in Phonenix,, Signal was very weak he said, and the signal faded into something else by the time he got home. I dount it be a pirate or Part 15,, a Part 15 would usually use the X-BAND,,,,RIGHT David,,, and would fade out within a mile or two tops,,, and a Pirate would be stronger and not suffer the deep fades and such,, it was distant,, But Mr Eduardo,, what are the chances of a Minneapolis station making it to Phoenix, even if is a 50kw???? And do any of the stations you listed have websites or streams,,, most arent in the FCC Database, although I know they arent good resources for Mexican and Canadian stations. Im going to suggest he try this station again and see if he hears them speaking spanish or playing spanish music,, thats still not proof positive,, but its a pretty safe bet that it was one of the Mexico stations...

Did anyone forget 770 is also on a N-D @5kw. From Albuquerque

Read my signature... we did 4,000 miles (against our pattern) at .44kw It's very possible. I had
WSB-AM atlanta for 45 min last Sunday morning at 3am.

Hello all…I’m the one who heard the dance music on 770 AM sometime last week, and started a discussion about it over on the Dance board.

Monday night, I drove in the area where I heard the station the first time. This time, from 6pm-7pm (MST), I heard some form of Spanish-language talk programming…for some reason, it reminded me of the lengthy stories heard on NPR newscasts in the U.S.

At 7pm, music began playing, but of course I had lost the signal again. It sounded like a dance song, but I wasn’t able to identify it.

I was in the area again around 10:30pm. I don’t know what genre of music it was, but it definitely was not dance music, and I’m fairly certain it was not any form of English-language music.

The strong nighttime signal of KKOB/Albuquerque, NM makes it very difficult to hear this station. KKOB is so clear in some areas, it could easily be mistaken for a local station. Yet, there are definitely some areas around town where the Spanish-language station actually sounds better than KKOB.

Sorry for not being able to provide more details. Sometime this weekend, I’m tempted to go back to the area where the signal is strong, and record the signal from my car’s speakers using a microphone from some other device. If I can do that, and if the sound is clear enough, I’ll upload the audio onto Youtube and share the link here.

(Do they make car stereos with the ability to record, either onto some form of disk or cassette?)

There are no car stereos that record to the best of my knowledge... I know you can get Microphones at Radio Shack,, I think the one I used to use was only 15 bucks and it should be sufficient,,, I wouldnt blow in a lot of money just to ID this station, but perhaps you have a mic at home.. Just make sure whe you record that the mic is close, but not too close to the car speakers, and that the engine is shut off and obviously the car is parked.. Im not sure if driving out of the Valley would make this station stronger, or just make KKOB come in much better,, Im guessing the latter, so I would try it in the area where you heard it before,, Would be nice if we could find websites and-or live streams for these stations.. But if David Eduardo didnt post a link to their websites, I assume they dont have one.... Good luck bro.

Interesting translation of ''cadena Los 40 Principales'' to ''the string 40 Main.''
I would have gone with ''The Top 40 network.''
But Los 40 Principales is a proper name and should not be translated.

Hello Good morning, I ask about an apology for this mistake and I personally am not very good for the English language and I'm using tools such as google translator., Apologize and thank you!

Well thank you Christian... It would seem that this should be the station as I know Los 40 Principals is Dance Music friendly with a mix of English and Spanish Pop.. Im not the one with the original question, but IDing this station has been important to me.. So thank you Christian for your help.
