AM Frequency of the Week - 1430 kHz (with bonus)

Does anyone know if KZQZ is now using their new daytime 50kw?
I would think I would have heard them at sunset, and I haven't. It looks like their new daytime only pattern will throw a stronger signal to SW Ohio.

How can WXNT not be affected during sunrise & sunset?

KZQZ was blasting into Middletown a couple of months ago, even to the point where I could drive around listening to them. If you throw a signal from St. Louis straight to Indianapolis, that would harm WXNT.

I wrote too soon.

Overcast and rainy today.

Went into work a little late today, and at 8:23 AM landed on 1430. KZQZ was on top and, for short periods, presented a reasonable signal. Oldies and I.D.s right up until I arrived at work. The 50 KW Canadian was also in the mix.

Maybe they are on 50KW.

You're probably right, but there's nothing in the FCC database about a license to cover. For that matter there's no mention of program test authority, either.

In the 8:30-8:45 AM time frame, for short periods they were again very strong.

This morning (2-2-12) around 9:00 AM EST car radio in Lorain, OH heard KZQZ coming in strong taking over the frequency. No sign of WFOB/Fostoria, OH (what I normally hear on this freq. during the day)

KZQZ was strong earlier this week in Northeastern Indiana....around sunrise and sunset. Presumably day power/pattern.

Brand new catch last night on 1430.

KZQZ, Hot Talk and Cool Oldies from St. Louis, MO. Caught early this morning.
As strong as anything I've ever caught on 1430. (the song being played was
"Love is Blue" though...not sure if that qualifies as a "cool oldie" ???)

5kW from suburban Pittsburgh.
