I would think Mr. Way would like to speak with you!

what in the wide-wide-world of sports would "Mr. Way" want to speak to me about?
I don't mind at all if the Geek Squad in SC wanta DX and tattle: more power to 'em.
(I'm affiliated with a legal FM, BTW...)

Plenty of time Chris in 1979, YOU forgot to filp WMAK over from the day to night pattern. I REMEMBER! Magic 13 was blasting all in to southwest FLA!

I hear Washington DC on 1500 sometimes over WLAC's IBOC. And I can always automate what frequency I want to monitor....

Buddy who is the Green Wave?

WMAK went into Floridia anyway with its southeast directional nighttime signal.

WELL.....the ole boys down the road on HY 109 didn't break the law tonight. The Muddy Water 5 was off and thier LPB was on thier legal authorized power. I drove up past Rivergate, to the Old Hickory Blvd/Madison Exit. CFRB, along with WINS was wiping them out.

Now that the regular season starts next week, let's see what happens. Powell Way has caught one cheater tonight in another state and they will be turned in to the Atlanta FCC office on Monday per Mr. Way. ;D
Must be the Way way of doing things! Sorry, couldn't resist! ;D

Oh yes, I forgot about that. But I lived in Hendersonville at the time and when WMAK was running automation in 1979, it would stay on day pattern until 10 or 11 PM, until somebody I guess from the FM (92Q at the time) caught it and set it to the night pattern.

WMAK was going all over the place when left on day power. Before McClintock left 1300, I could here WNQM up here in Gallatin at night. Talking about following FCC rules, he kept himself concern about WQSV all the time running more than it was suppose to at night and Corky Albright was NOT even his competition.

Oh yea, I'm surpirsed that Clear Channel has kept her around, and I heard a rumor that the school system wanted to fire her husband, the coach of the Gallatin Greenwave, but I don't know if that's true or not, or what's up with that.

Scott: stop listening to Buntin. He didn't know the workings of CC
while he was employed there...even less NOW.

Oh for a clarification, I don't work for or get any money from the FCC.

And Scott, did I hear you say 1010 is off frequency?? They need to get that fixed before an official FCC monitoring station snags that just dialing by. And it's VERY annoying to listeners not right super close to the transmitter.

As a side note I will tell you of a fantastic little radio. The Sangean DT-400W is great. AM smokes and FM is good and it has a really good weather radio. It runs on 2 AA batteries. The tiny speaker is only fair, but through headphones it sparkles. And it is VERY yellow!

Geez...four pages about AM stations in the 'burbs who might be broadcasting at a little more power than they are supposed to be.

From this board, you'd think the big boys in town--CC, Citadel, Cumulus, et al. were all bowing in awe of these stations in Gallatin. ::)

If you noticed, I've added a few "tongue and cheek" comments in both threads, but I will add this story.

I produced a program for a daytimer up the road who was allowed one watt at night. His competitor, also allocated to single digit wattage at night, took advantage of the "High School Sports Exemption" and remained at daytime parameters after sunset. In a conversation he lamented how the other station was breaking the rules and making money while he fought to stay on the air by following the rules. Of the two owners, who deserves a federally regulated broadcast facility operating in the public interest, convenience and necessity? Oh, I forgot that no longer an accepted practice.

Hey Powell! That's the problem. If the FCC started paying a bounty for rule busters and law breakers, that might help. And might fund the purchase new goodies around the shack.
Or that money might come in handy for a lawyer if, (and I'm not saying anyone here is doing it) someone might mistakenly claim another station is in material violation, when they are, indeed, not.

Have fun, and I'll think about you Friday night. I'll be on the boat, enjoying the sunset......
