am970 Station of the Year? Joe Piscopo a “gamechanger”?

From a few years ago, Jerry Crowley, GM of am970, congratulated Joe Piscopo for his show catapulting am970 into superstar stature at Salem Media, calling Piscopo a “gamechanger” Having heard the show, I have to wonder if this is more than a little hyperbolic. I suspect Piscopo is not delivering major audience numbers and the show seemingly has few sponsors, and the few are likely not very lucrative, such as a car dealership and a restaurant—The few new sponsors drop out fast, probably due to lack of ad response, due to low listenership. I wonder what all the back-slapping is about https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1659069040786209&id=414588951900897&_rdr

I heard his show was renewed for a few more years I really don't get it the show is so repetitive they rag chew through the whole four hours take callers right before they have to break most of the time.

Salem has set a low bar for am970 “The Answer” Phil Boyce commented that their priority is simply trying to surpass themselves, i.e., the old “The Apple,” rather than competitors. Piscopo is a “big name” for Salem, probably as “big” a name as Salem can expect to work for them, at a crappy station, at a modest salary and in a studio the size of a closet.

am970’s being a money-loser can’t be good for Salem’s stock price.

I’ll keep that in mind when I invest. (And is there a link to that station’s individual financials?)

They operate as a whole. Some stronger pieces, some weaker pieces, but they also have clearances in New York. Moreover, while certainly having a fiduciary responsibility, they have a particular mission.

32% of Salem Stock is held by executives at the company, chiefly bythe CEO and also by the chairman. Together they own about 30% of the stock.

Institutional investors own about 25%. Chiefly Dimensional Fund Advisors and GAMCO investors with about 5% each.

Salem’s stock has declined from $6 to less than $3.

These are the same people who perpetuate the idea that the media is the enemy of the people.

If that's true, it includes Salem.

Just a thought...

It's the mainstream media (MSM) that are often referred to as the "enemy of the People" these days.

Salem is hardly "mainstream".

The mainstream media which participated in perpetuating a hoax merely for ratings and money is indeed the enemy of the American people
