I was subbing at a local elementary school on Thursday morning and didn't have class until 9:10 (specialist class). After looking over sub plans, I looked at the WTFDA logger and the DXMaps and found out there was FM skip being reported from OR to AZ/NV, and a friend in southern CA was picking up KUOW-94.9 Seattle. I had about 15 minutes of time to check in the Buick Encore for skip. Sorry, no good recordings except for one station as I didn't bring my recorder (why would I if it wasn't summertime...)
There have been several Es openings this month. There was a strong top-of-band opening 1/6/26 from the upper Midwest and Plains to the Northeast and Mid Atlantic.
Here's the logs. Includes a new (for Yakima) SHORT SKIP RECORD!! I broke an all-time short-skip record in Cascade ID just a few months prior! This one was really close. Four new stations for the logbook.

8:53AM - 94.3 KOKO-FM Kerman, CA; this kept fading up and down with Punjabi or Hindi-language talk programming. A RadioDiscussions search confirms this is the format on KOKO right now, formerly owned by the now-late Art LaBoe. "Spice Radio". NEW #907, 6KW at 680 miles.
8:55AM - 95.1 KHOP Oakdale, CA; playlist match, "Timber" by Pitbull and Ke$ha. Relog, 29.5KW at 607 miles.
8:57AM - 98.1 KKJG San Luis Obispo, CA; K-Jug Morning Show. Relog, 4.5KW at 775 miles.
8:58AM - 101.9 KHHM-FM Shingle Springs, CA; Rhythmic Latino music and RDS hit "Shoboy Show 6-10" as seen in picture that will be attached. My Buick radio is not very sensitive for RDS, and it only shows on very strong signals. My little TEF6686 blows the Buick stock radio out of the water and has PIs. NEW #908, 47KW at 534 miles.

9:02AM - 89.3 KPJP GREENVILLE, CA; Relevant Radio support messages and IDs mixing with two other Christian Contemporary FMs (I assume one was KLFF Arroyo Grande). This breaks a record for the short-skip record in Yakima!! NEW #910, 4.5KW at only 439 miles!!! STRANGELY ENOUGH.........This is also the short-skip record from Ellensburg (at 468 miles), logged 7/14/2021! Greenville is in Plumas County and 75% of the town was destroyed in 2021 wildfires.
