American Public Media (APM) will take over distribution of the nationally-syndicated “Classical 24” (C24). The music service has been produced by APM and is currently distributed by PRX, who transfers the distribution rights to APM after a 25+ year partnership. The change is effective July 1.
“Classical 24” was launched in 1995 by APM and Public Radio International, which merged with PRX in 2018. Today, the service is heard by more than 1.5 million listeners each week and is carried by more than 230 public radio stations across the country.
“Classical 24 is an important part of the portfolio of music programs created here at APM and I'm excited by the new possibilities that bringing it in-house will create,” Liwanag Ojala, Senior VP and Chief Transformation Officer said in a release. “Listeners can expect the same high-quality classical music with insights provided by their favorite hosts whenever they tune in.”
