'America's Morning News' on 1160/RealTalk is a great option for AM drive time.

I've listened a number of times now and each time I've found it very informative about the breaking news topics of the day. The hosts seem to have their egos on straight and pretty much keep it to the facts. Its a definite conservative slant but what else is new.

Of course there's not much competition anymore for talk. I gave up on Jim Scott a decade ago because of all 'its' commercials and the cut and paste nature.

I probably politically agree with Thomas on 550, but I just can't take his fast talking ways. The guy simply talks too fast.

I just wish 1160 had a greater signal and wouldn't have to air so many PSA's about strokes and whatever else they throw on there.

Here's a concept: Try some good locally originated shows for a change & you just might be able to eliminate the PSA's with spots!!!

I just stick with Morning Edition on WVXU or WNKU. I prefer WNKU because I like Craig Kopp, but either one works.

Your comments on A M N is exactly why its on the station.
A letter still sits before commission on the nighttime situation. There is still some fall work scheduled and the hopes are that it helps push more signal out.
PSA's? Only because it wasn't time to start selling ads. Not fair to the folks buying time. A reputable broadcaster should make sure the right product is in place and the billboards have had a little time to work before selling ad time.
Of course, so many companies are strung out on debt that its hard to adhere to this type of practice.

I heard a local spot this morning for the Ohio Renaissance Festival. I can also tell that you've improved the processing about 1000%. Not sure what you can do about that night signal unless you pay Salem off or diplex onto someone else's site at night. JRY, you REALLY need a Metro deal. I know thay're all out of town now, but you cannot have a news talk operation without some news and traffic. Weather Bug is kind of lame too, especially the puker who calls himself "Big" Michael Kaufman. That's really unprofessional if you ask me. He's a weather reader, not some morning personality.

Thanks for the comments, Elephant.

The traffic services wouldn't give us the time of day. Not even a return call.
The "bug" will be there for a little bit. My preference is one of the local weather people.
The Ren. Fest. is a trade. Our team hits the streets in a couple of days to start selling.
Nighttime signal? We have a few plans afoot. They may or may not work. Thanks for the good word on processing.
We found a few wiring messes there, during the transition.
Stay tuned.

The NPR and other "public" stations talk is way too low key and slow for me, like your back in a 1950's world, or worse, reading the newspaper, though I do realiize lots of people like it.

I too like AMN, and find John McCaslin and Melanie Morgan a good combination. Not for those of the liberal persuasion, though. But then, those folks are probably listening to NPR.

Thanks Ican. We were really excited when we heard about the program and the concept. Then it launched the same day we did. Pretty cool stuff.
We will be clearing this program in at least one of our other markets.
BTW, my son and daughter in law LOVE NPR. Tells me that they are pretty balanced in the content and delivery.
I couldn't say either way as, if i turn them on, i end up napping.
They are 30.

I also occasionally listen to NPR, but only specifically to the first hour of the Diane Riems(sp?) show at 10-11 am. Thats the hour devoted to current news topics. I think it has a slant towards the Democratic side of things, but it can often provide balance to the Hannity type shows on the air.

'AMN' is definitely a fresh newcomer into the local talk scene. The female host is apparently from the Bay area from a few years ago. I was out there '84-'89 and it was a fantastic place/time if you listened to talk radio.

I recall listening to KGO and KNBR at the time.
