I'm afraid you're the one that doesn't get it. My post about WMUU was my honest opinion.

I still don't have the courage to listen to WBRF. WIST sounded so good yesterday for the two hours I was in the car. They know how to play country music that makes me happy. The fact that Alan Jackson is missing doesn't bother me.

Is the cafe paying ASCAP and BMI?

He means it was a on a single-speaker radio right up by the cash register at the end of the counter. :)

or
if it (1) has less than 3750 gross square feet of space (in measuring the space, the amount of space used for customer parking only is always excludable); or (2) has 3750 gross square feet of space or more and (a) uses no more than 6 loudspeakers of which not more than 4 loudspeakers are located in any 1 room or adjoining outdoor space.

Whoever was talking about running a station with a 5,000 playlist is obviously not running a successful station. Even the BBC doesn't have playlists THAT long. Radio 1's ethos (now this is a pop station) has always been ratings by day, and credibility at night. There's a reason why all the specialist shows on Radio 1 are on at night.

If I recall correctly from the days of County Sound Gold, they had a large library of songs to pick from, but they had playlists: an "a" playlist with songs in high rotation, a "b" list for songs that need to be played more often, and then sometimes the presenter/DJ can pick their own songs. For overnight, the RCS Selector/ Master Control would take over... just on the "a" list and "b" list...

Since Sirius has been mentioned, I went to Dairy Queen last week (great hot dogs!) and found the music kind of annoying, but I heard a station ID that established it was Sirius. All the songs were from the 80s, and considering it was a fast-food place, it wasn't too bad. No worse than one of today's ACs.

I ended up staying longer than expected because the Arctic Blast (I think that's the name, but it used to be Mr. Misty) machine was turned off and it took time to get it running again. Actually, I was just finishing my hot dogs when I got my drinkso I may not have stayed that long. The blue raspberry Arctic Blast is delicious. I had the lemon-lime earlier in the summer at a smaller DQ with no food, only desserts, because it's the classic architecture and a historic landmark.

I took my drink with me.

I hate it when a perfectly fine-named product is renamed. What exactly was wrong with Mr Misty?
I recall the original Mr Misty signs, he was a 5 pointed star, and a moving point of light traveled outside the perimeter of the star, tracing the
shape.

Marketing people will never make sense to me. I'd love to hear the internal discusssions at DQ HQ over the renaming....

I went to a DQ that is a historic landmark and it's still Mr. Misty there.

I've been drinking it for 30 years and I don't want to stop. The newly named version is just as good, though.

Whatever WBRF is doing now, I have to listen this week. I'm not aware of any other stations I will like where I'll be most of the day Thursday. Rush won't be on, and I tried Glenn Beck not because I wanted to, but because I had to. The beautiful music station was on his frequency and going up hills mean I lose the music, if I can hear it at all. Never again!

I went in the restaurant that plyed WBRF Tuesday and they had something acceptable but not particularly enjoyable for me. But it was WTQR. This was bad. Or maybe not. The next song was "Sold" by John Michael Montgomery, a good song. After that, just one long commercial break. While I waited for my food, I was stuck watching Lindsay Lohan go to jail on Fox News. Honestly! Her hair and dress looked nice, thought you wonder what's the point. I guess she knew the cameras would be there, though, so she couldn't show up looking like a convict.

I drove to Winston-Salem Thursday. I finally had the courage to try WBRF, and it was good. Songs I had never heard on Country Legends 98.3, and songs I had never heard ever. And plenty of good songs I knew. And I kept hearing the words "by request". How many DJs do that?

When I started home, though, it wasn't that good. Two songs in a row by Tim McGraw. actually, the first one was good. Then there was some pop-sounding mess by a young girl who sang about dying young. With banjos and fiddles tacked on so it would pass for country. No, wait, those banjos and fiddles actually dominated there for a while. More pop-sounding mess, but also a good George Jones song. And a Marty Robbins song, by request. Hey, this station is good!

But closer to home I'm not likely to pick it up, which becomes important if my standards station is airing the 190th American Legion baseball game so far this summer. In fact, if I need the air conditioning even when there's not a game, I can't pick up that station beyond 20 miles. Oh, well, I've gotten used to that screaming noise . It's better than the music most stations play.

I had one more stop to make and then it was time for Rush on 94.5. But I just read THAT'S ending now. I discovered him because I was trying for the beautiful music station farther south, but that didn't work out too well. But it has been such fun to listen to the man.
