Anchor Shiba Russell leaving WXIA 11Alive after six years

The Emmy-winning journalist didn’t say what her next job will be, but she is moving back to the Northeast. Her daughter is attending Drexel University in Philadelphia this fall. In a text with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, she said she will provide more details next week.

“We’re very sorry to see her leave but understand the familial reasons,” said 11Alive general manager John Deushane.

Faith Jesse is named to take Shiba Russels former spot at WXIA.
WXIA-TV, the Tegna-owned station in Atlanta, said it hired Faith Jessie as a weekday evening anchor.

Jessie will start in December and co-anchor 11Alive News at 5 p.m. next to Jennifer Bellamy. She will also report for the station’s weeknight newscasts.

Previously, Jessie was an anchor for Newsday TV in New York.

Jessie replaces Shiba Russell who left the station in late June and was later named evening anchor for WTFX-TV in Philadelphia.
