Anchorage TV Station's News Department In Hot Water Over Taped Conversation

A recorded message has surfaced in which it appears that news staffers at Anchorage CBS affiliate KTVA are engaged in an interesting discussion regarding Senate candidate Joe Miller:

According to Miller's camp, the KTVA reporters "discuss getting a list of Miller campaign supporters in order to ‘find' a ‘child molester.' ‘You have to find that one person,' says the male reporter, to laughter in the newsroom. The reporters at KTVA then discuss creating a ‘Rand Paul' incident at the then upcoming Miller Rally (held on October 28, 2010) and hoping for violence so that they can ‘send out a tweet' and ‘Facebook' that ‘Miller got punched' at the rally."

The station's GM insists that the staffers were not orchestrating anything and were merely discussing "potential what if scenarios" regarding the election.

"What if" these staffers just happened to end up no longer working for KTVA?

on the contrary, KTVA has stood up for them and kept them on the payroll, which is kind of shocking
given the content of that message.

KTVA opted not to produce a 5 and 6 p.m. newscast Nov. 10 as it looked into the controversy. "The 5 and 6 p.m. were canceled in order to address an internal matter," it said on Twitter. "But, we will be returning at 10 p.m. to report on all of today's news."

Anybody know what they ran in lieu of the newscasts? Infomercials?

It says in the article that they ran The New Adventures of Old Lisa Christine.
