And In The Category Of Repetition...

It is hopefully annoying to someone other then myself that some (clearly not all) on this board and in life in general reduce all discussion to a rant about liberal vs. conservative? There are much more important issues and much more interesting topics besides politics and amazingly enough not all life can be reduced to a political equation. Where this business will be in five or ten years (or two) , how it will compete in a marketplace of "instant ideas" and entertainment unlike that which we have seen to date and who will be the gatekeepers of those ideas and information...those are topics worth discussing provided it doesn't become just another "liberal vs. conservative" rant as articulated by some.

For that I have absolutely no time to waste. It bores me and I have made a life both in and out of the news business of never being bored and I am not about to start now. Life is way too short for bad food, bad wine and boorish discussion.

Too bad if all you have from which to launch your discussions and your life is "left vs. right" in politics....

Like I said, good luck.

And here's another example of why liberal talk radio seldom prevails in the ratings. Liberals seem to lack the ability to recognize the concept of "a time and a place for everything". This is a discussion forum dedicated to the news/talk radio format. It's not a place to discuss music, or cooking, or needlepoint, or sports, or any of a number of different things. It's a place dedicated to discussing news/talk radio. And, like it or not, news/talk radio is primarily about politics. And in the United States in 2007, politics in general and news/talk radio in particular are very much split between liberal and conservative points of view.

I'm sorry if you get bored by political discussions about liberal and conservative talk show hosts here in the forum that is dedicated to such discussions. I suppose that merely proves my point that liberals would rather spend their time doing something other than discussing politics or listening to discussions of politics on the radio.

Too bad if all you have from which to launch your discussions and your life is "left vs. right" in politics....

And too bad for you if you don't have enough capacity to handle being able to discuss politics and political talk radio in a political talk radio forum, and music in a musicians' forum, and gourmet cooking in a foodie forum, and sports in a sports forum, etc.

As I said earlier, there is a time and a place for everything. Don't assume that because my participation in this forum is appropriate for this forum that I don't also enjoy other things in settings where the other things are appropriate. Now, I must log off from this interesting discussion to go do something totally different, which I won't mention in here as it would be off-topic. Though I'll leave one small hint. It involves one of the finest sauces ever tasted by mortal man.

There is much more to the format then the discussion of yours ...or anyones political beliefs.

but I have said too much.

Enjoy the frozen dinner.

but I have said too much.

And we get another example from justaraporter seminar series of "Examples of reasons why liberal talk radio hosts can't seem to get ratings". This is a common technique used by left-wing talk show hosts to chase away listeners. When they get themselves painted into an intellectual corner by their own blather, instead of just shutting up and moving on to a new topic (or thread), they feel compelled to go for one final attempt to make it appear that they have "won" instead of just letting things drop.

Enjoy the frozen dinner.

And here's the bonus example of another great audience chaser employed by liberal talk show hosts that costs them ratings points -- the gratutitous insult. If you're a liberal talk show host and want to make sure your show remains on only battery-powered AM stations, be sure to throw a liberal sprinkling of off-topic attacks and insults at anyone you disagree with. If you have nothing to say to refute anyone's arguments, go for the cheap shot.

I can't wait to see what further examples of techniques liberal talk show hosts can use to continue losing in the ratings are going to come from the keyboard of justareporter.

I just hope the moderator/editor recognizes that the posts in this thread are sticking to the topic of news/talk radio.

Speaking only for myself, and not the other gentlemen -

I am not "bored" by political discussions about liberal and conservative talk show hosts. The topic, as presumably envisioned, has a lot of play.

But like most such discussions, it has derailed into the usual "(insert ideology here) sucks/(insert ideology here) rules" on both sides, with, um, "liberal" helpings of broad insults of "the other side".

That's what *I* get bored about.
