Angelo Cataldi Hinting At End Of Radio Show?

In a piece for CBSPhilly.com (via ProFootballTalk.com) about the return of Donovan McNabb to Philadelphia, the WIP host - who eleven years ago, rounded up "The Dirty 30" that famously booed McNabb when the Eagles drafted him - says:

"We didn't intend to do anything wrong, we really didn't... We weren't driving a 100 miles both ways to boo the newest Eagle. (The group's original intention was to cheer Ricky Williams upon being drafted by the team, which of course, never happened.) Now as I wind down my radio career, I'm going to be remembered as the guy who got 30 big fat puking drunks together to boo McNabb -- not as an articulate journalist who contributed something."

That sentence "now as I wind down my radio career" just leapt out at me. Does anyone know when his contract with WIP is up?

Don't know about the contract. And sorry this goes a bit off your topic, but stays with Ange's career...
Do you remember The Great Sports Debate on TV? I think it may have been broadcast on Prism.
In my opinion, far superior to the WIP morning show, yet with virtually the same cast. Angelo, Al, Glen Macnow before he was a radio host, Stan Hochman, Jason Stark, Mike Missanelli...
What I liked was they stuck closer to sports talk and even referenced their own columns occasionally. So you'd hear about what they wrote, but then were able to follow up a bit with the stories. (This was when dinosaurs roamed the Earth... before the internet)
And although it got goofy sometimes (okay, often) it stuck more to the news and stories about
the sports teams and figures but didn't wander off so much into nonsense.

I seem to recall hearing or reading that when Cataldi re-upped with WIP several months back, he indicated it would likely be his last contract before retirement.

"The Great Sports Debate" was enjoyable to watch during the brief time I had PRISM in the '90s (and during the occasional freebie preview weeks). It was much more of a "necessity" in the days before 24-hour regional sports channels and of course, the Internet.

It is possible that Cataldi may be having health issues and at this time believes it best to take a breather.

I loved the Great Sports Debate, but I listened to a replay of the WIP morning show and all I can say is, I hope Cataldi leaves soon! I worked in radio for 15 years and that morning show is tired and shows the hosts don't do any work. They went on and on about how bad McNabb was, an easy out. The sad part is, WIP probably ran it as a "Best of".

They still run "best of" the morning show on Saturday mornings?
