announcing RETIREMENT & identity of Caller10 (the 'character' not the userid)

OK I hereby announce the retirement of the radio-info.com message board B98.5 obsessed character "Caller10" (but not necessarily the userid by the same name, I'm still here). I am about to embark on some certifications to get my IT career completely restarted in the Linux server administration and infrastructure area. As such, and considering that the Cox Medias, Cumulus-es (how do you say that plural anyway?), Clear Channels, and others of the world may be future target employers, I've decided to retire the Caller10 character. The character was really my takeoff anyway of GoodTimesandEightOldies GoodTimesandGreatOldies's OCD of 106.7, as well as the great CurtisInPA and CurtisTranslator in regards to 94.9. I hope overall my creative writing has been to your enjoyment.

For the record, before an IT career here in Atlanta and my hometown of Columbus, GA, I had a radio career that spanned five years in Columbus in CHR and country including as an air personality, music coordinator, assistant program director, assistant production director, Selector and DARTS wiz, and programming the AM automation to do things the GM didn't think possible (it's how I ended up in IT). I may choose to comment more on some of the most incredible people I had the fortune to be associated with in Columbus who later made it to Atlanta. I will only say for now that that one of my mentors came full circle for me, allowing me the chance to work for a bit in Chicago Tribune's interactive division. And it's that exposure to some of the same IT infrastructure/technology that I have a great interest on the content management side that's helped shaped my interests and current direction.

Ah, a quote referenced from Casey Kasem (not sure if I spelled his last name correctly), one of my favorite radio announcers who was the head of his Casey Kasem's American Top 40 many many years ago and his American Top 20 segments on 94.9.

With B98.5 eliminating the 98 at 9 and the "Atlanta's best variety of soft rock" which we tiredly used to hear over and over again, I guess the ideas had to run out somewhere.

OK, ATL board readers... How would you rank this board's memes, and which others would you add:

Caller10
Curtis/Translator
GoodTimesAndGreatOldies
Neil Millman's quest to take over 92.9 FM
"How will this affect Q100?"

Jordan Graye/Kate McCarthy
Inside My Head (the dude who was all emo about the demise of 99X)

I would put Jordan Graye/Kate McCarthy, Q100, and Neil/92.9 all at the top.

allthehitsandteninarow was a very short lived spoof with Q100 being mine ... uh I mean his object of obsession, although that ID was quickly killed by the radio-info folks since it was coming from the same IP address as Caller10 (hence I used Caller10 for B98.5). I believe the posts of these threads I took the exact wording from some of GoodTimesAndGreatOldies's missives and just changed it to Q100:

As well as Caller10 luvs him some AC in some of America's other great markets too. He lifts the words right out of the station's positioning and social media:

Miami-Ft. Lauderdale - http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?action=printpage;topic=182295.0
Fresno - http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=182441.0
Chicago: http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?action=printpage;topic=183200.0

And Caller10 has a Youtube channel that luvs him some telethons, I'm surprised Eric Von Haessler hasn't contacted the channel for Jerry Lewis footage yet:

If it does not violate the board's TOS, below is my info, but as focused as I have been on Soft AC marketing, it's time once again to work on my own. And a special thanks to one radio-info.com poster who came to Caller10's adult Bar Mitzvah a few years ago. Thanks for the pen set but it needs a refill.

See, now I thought the "Jordan/Kate" bit was mutually exclusive to Don's "caller10/98 minutes non-stop while you work!" bit.

Best of luck to you caller10.

I have to rank Neil Millman's quest to take over 92.9 FM as #1.

Does nobody remember my years long hatred of all things Clear Channel? I still hate those clowns from San Antonio...

I'm always surprised when I see pics/video of Kasem, because in my brain, he looks this guy (the one in white in the front).

/is both old and nerdy. :p

I don't remember giving you a pen. Did I?

Actually Roddy I think it was a Barnes N' Noble gift card. ;D

Your name is Don Kramer? That sounds even more fake than Neil Millman.

Much respect to Jabba (and his daughter) and Dash for the mention.

One correction was it was InsideYourHea which came with the unsubstantiated rumor he was really Lannie from Buckhead a sworn defender of all things Leslie Fram.

Jordan/Kate is one of my faves but only because Kate was so smoking hot and Jordan was so healous of their rivalry.

I have been kicked off the boards twice for my responses to InsideYour Head and GoodTimeseGreatOldies.

Also KDM7000 could be added to the list. Never has a person who has lived so far away cared abut the music another city plays. One I will never understand.

Yes, I've seen posts removed since they were aimed toward a certain person... but I guess it's okay if they're involved in memes?
