Another College Station Gone

The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg VA has shut down it's student run station WCWM after 60 years.

When I saw the callsign on another thread, my immediate thought was the 740 kHz station licensed to the same town. My bad! The good news is that college radio station losses are occurring at a much slower rate than AM radio station losses.

Apparently WCWM was a very active radio station on campus. Here's a story from last fall when the station hosted a battle of the bands:

Wow. 13.5kw at 82 meters above average terrain, in a well-populated area. Surprised they weren't able to transfer it to someone who would benefit.

Here is a link to the cancelation notice. No reason given

Hopefully it's not a bad April Fool's prank someone pulled. The station's website and social media look like business as usual with no shutdown notice or hint of any changes posted. Regular programming is still on at the Listen Live link as well.

Can anyone check if the OTA signal is possibly still on, either locally or via an sdr?

Here's another one: Elmhurst University's WRSE:

Apparently abandoned, especially now that the school year has ended.
