Another K-call east of the river in Mississippi

We all know Sardis is home to KBUD, but I just saw a CP for a new station in Louisville, well away from the Mississippi River. The call assigned? KUOI.

Are the Feds running out of W calls already, or do they just not know which side of the river the state is on? ;)

In the past they seem to have forgotten what all those two-letter abbreviations mean... MI=Missouri? (KTGG near Jackson, Mich..) Maybe this time it's MS that means Missouri?

As many times as I see state abbreviations messed up (AB for Alabama and AL for Alaska are common), I believe it.

Zach, what info do you have on the Louisville station??

"Well, the first thing you gotta do, is say the call letters right." Which I did not do. The actual calls are KOUI. D'oh.

Licensed to Louisville, it's a CP for 90.7 MHz, 6.3 kW V at 525 feet, with a very odd oval directional signal. 60 dBu map shows it covering Mathiston, Ackerman and Noxapater but not Starkville. The licensee is Ron Elmore Ministries, whom I've never heard of. At least until I Googled the name. Ron Elmore appears to be a black minister whose organization seems focused on helping marriages and relationships. But info also came up about Elmore being an 'ex-gay' who spends time trying to convert 'teh gays' to 'teh straights'.

The CP dates back to 2008.
