Another hour of 60's folk/folk-rock at WUMB has been lost.
Ran into a former WUMB program host (not Barnes) last night, I shared with him/her this "news"
From http://www.wumb.org/programs/thisweek.php
I saw this taking of an hour of "Highway 61 Revisitied" for a syndicated show about 60's pop music completely unrelated to the show's premise as a further moving away from the stations last vestige of 60's folk and folk rock programming. Being insightful, H/She had three observations:
1. Management's wanting to do a Beatles special during a part of Barnes' program's time slot and his probable pushing back may have been one of the contributing factors that lead to his being run out of dodge on a rail.
2. Replacement host Albert O is in a weaker position than Barnes and cannot afford to "push back", thus does as management bids.
3. The music Albert plays is not as deep as what Barnes played. Apparently Barnes brought in personal material and the station's resources are either more limited and/or what is allowed to air must conform to the station's AAA "music mix" formula.
