Another reminder of the sad state of TV today

In the 1980s, American Gladiators was throwaway fare, filler before the Infomercial Age.

In 2008, American Gladiators is featured entertainment.

Yeah, I know there's a writers strike going on, but even without the strike, I think AG would still have been a featured show.

Sad.

I used to watch American Gladiators religiously back in the early-mid 1990s. It aired on CKCO Kitchener up here, not sure about the CTV network though.

Not to mention how desperate NBC is right now. Truly the bottom of the barrel they're digging into over there. Wonder how long before they try out a Charles in Charge revival.

"Charles In Charge" would definitely hit below the belt! However, the network run of that show was on CBS, not NBC.

I wonder if that's why just above the NBC logo bug, there's always some watermark ad promoting or pushing whatever show it says. I notice that little annoyance while watching Late Night with Conan last night.

Btw, Conan's show is actually better without the writers imo. Maybe they had held him back for all these years.

With the state of Television today I wouldn't be surprised if some programming genius came up with the idea of having Lynda Carter squeeze into her Wonder Woman costume and reprise that role.
The writers strike actually works in favor of the networks. It allows them to put more crap on TV without having to pay experienced and talented people. Once again the bottom-line wins over quality.
::)

It's only a winning strategy if the Nielsen households fall for it.

Or maybe "Perfect Strangers" - those two guys from that show need the money more than NBC!

(And yes, I know it ran on another network.)

Actually D to the J, ION was the one who did a "Perfect Strangers" "revival" (if you could logically call it a "revival") several months ago. I don't know if they are still carrying it tho, as it airs/ed in my area at 2000h PT on KPXG and I am usually at work at that time.........
