Another Variety Hits Station Is Coming (WALX in Selma Alabama)

This Tuesday, WALX "Lazer 101" 100.9 FM will be switching from Top 40/Classic Rock, to Variety Hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s with the new moniker of ALEX.

Just thought you might be interested in this one.

When the change does occur, I'll let you know and give you a sample of what I've heard.

P.S. From the way their advertisements have been reading, it seems like they'll be going in a rock direction. In the ads, I noticed they had a guitar in the background while saying this: Are you ready? ALEX is coming. Stay tuned for the details.

An update: Tomorrow is the big day. That's when ALEX FM will sign on. Once I get the chance to listen, then I'll give you a sample of their new playlist. It looks like they'll be leaning Rock from what I'm now reading, in my local newspaper.

R.D.P. I can’t wait for the sample playlist. Please, for the curious, pay attention to the imaging, too. Also, will they have a website? Please keep me posted.

No they don't have a web site, at this time. They might get one in due course.

Image goes like this: The Best Hits of All Time, ALEX FM WALX 100.9 FM Selma Alabama

Now for a sample of their playlist, as I'm Hearing It:

Lynyrd Skynynrd
The Eagles
Bachman, Turner and Overdrive
Tom Petty
Bon Jovi
Grand Funk Railroad
Fleetwood Mac
Kansas
Eric Clapton
John Mellencap
Pat Benatar
Journey
Pink Floyd
Eddie Money
Bob Seger and His Silver Bullet Band
Don Henley
Elton John
Supertramp
Huey Lewis and the News
Robert Palmer
Boston
Michael MacDonald
Cheap Trick
Aerosmith
Jackson Browne
Billy Joel
Guns N Roses
Bryan Adams
ZZ Top
Van Halen
Hall and Oates
Starship
Van Morrison
The Hollies
The Black Crowes
Jesus Jones

and of course R.E.O. Speedwagon (Playing them now, as I'm posting)

It looks like ALEX FM will be leaning Classic Rock. Haven't heard no classic R&B tunes on here yet. Might in due course but I'll have to stay tuned.
