ANTENNA-TOWERS OF PIRATE STATIONS ON GOOGLE "STREET VIEW"?

Yes and I would love to see one here but I think that would first require republicans to vote it in and that's not probably going to happen here anytime soon....

Not from Massachusetts, are you Johnster.....The Democraps here need NO Republicans to pass anything they want.

My question is...do states have rights to regulate the Airwaves at all? I thought the Airwaves are a Federal issue...

There is a big difference between Federal Law and Federal Regulations.

Yes, and pirates are breaking federal law...to be specific, Section 301 of the Communications Act. This is not some obscure regulation. This is the law that, in 1934, created the Federal Communications Commission. The pertinent text is as follows:

SEC. 301. [47 U.S.C. 301] LICENSE FOR RADIO COMMUNICATION OR TRANSMISSION OF ENERGY
It is the purpose of this Act, among other things, to maintain the control of the United States over all the channels of radio transmission; and to provide for the use of such channels, but not the ownership thereof, by persons for limited periods of time, under licenses granted by Federal authority, and no such license shall be construed to create any right, beyond the terms, conditions, and periods of the license. No person shall use or operate any apparatus for the transmission of energy or communications or signals by radio (a) from one place in any State, Territory, or possession of the United States or in the District of Columbia to another place in the same State, Territory, possession, or District; or (b) from any State, Territory, or possession of the United States, or from the District of Columbia to any other State, Territory, or possession of the United States; or (c) from any place in any State, Territory, or possession of the United States, or in the District of Columbia, to any place in any foreign country or to any vessel; or (d) within any State when the effects of such use extend beyond the borders of said State, or when interference is caused by such use or operation with the transmission of such energy, communications, or signals from within said State to any place beyond its borders, or from any place beyond its borders to any place within said State, or with the transmission or reception of such energy, communications, or signals from and/or to places beyond the borders of said State; or (e) upon any vessel or aircraft of the United States (except as provided in section 303(t)); or (f) upon any other mobile stations within the jurisdiction of the United States, except under and in accordance with this Act and with a license in that behalf granted under the provisions of this Act.

rooftop chases involving armed drug-runners occur where these antennas are located. i doubt local police want to risk their guys over investigating an "aerial".. http://www.universalhub.com/crime/20130302-police-six-angry-drug-dealers-arrested-three-after.html

although maybe some enterprising Necrat/n1zzn type will go for it, in full body armour

OK that is one of the funniest comments I've seen on here in a while. FYI, the pirate radio page is actually located at www.coffeeradio.us, I just haven't moved it yet to its own server.

Here is my take on the pirates, as they relate to me. I've worked for years maintaining legal radio and tv stations. I work hard to make sure things like RFR compliancy and broadcast emissions are held to the federally accepted level. When you have Joe Blow buy a antenna made in the UK and a transmitter made in Hong Kong, throw it on his roof, far exceeding safe RFR limits, and causing actual interference within the FM bands, that is where I have an issue. With that said, I do not go and "snitch" on these guys, as everything I've published is easy enough for anyone with a $50 radio and basic understanding of RF signals to compile and do. I *will* help local radio engineers with interfering pirates. Dennis Loria of the FCC Boston field office does know of the page, he knows of the addresses. You can see how much good it's doing. I've done their work for them, but they can't enforce based on my list. The FCC EB is so underfunded, that they only seem to go after those who are complained about. And even then, they have to go through their own process to find and get these guys.

Look I have no problem with someone wanting to serve their local community with radio, but there are legal ways and illegal ways to do so.
There are plenty of under utilized AM stations around here that could easily be snatched up by some of these guys and serve their area with a real signal. I've helped build radio stations which serve the community, legally. It can be done.

Do I go in and approach any of these operators? Absolutley not. Would I? No. They seem to think they have the right to broadcast whatever they want, wherever they want. If that is the case, I have the right to find out where they are.

How reliable are the Google Street Views and Maps? It's possible that the view is historical and the antennas are now long gone.
