ANTENNA TV SUB-CHANNEL READY TO GO IN 30+ MARKETS

You're right! They are showing the oldest Beverly Hillbillies episodes. Thanks for clearing that up.

Now, back to Dave's original question. Could it be the rights that Weigel Broadcasting has for those shows in Chicago expire on Jan 1st? Or could Weigel have made some kind of DEAL with Antenna TV?

Unless Weigel & Tribune are allowed to own the rights to the overlap shows (Andy Griffith being one of them, along with Family Guy on WGN-TV & WCIU), then I'm not aware of any deal pertaining to Antenna TV & & MeTV with overlap programming. WGN-TV is gonna be the station carrying Antenna TV. If Tribune allowed Weigel to carry Antenna TV, there's only room to carry it on WWME-LD, as there's no bandwidth left on WCIU, & WCUU-CA hasn't gone digital yet. I don't see that happening since Weigel's committed to their MeTV/MeToo channels & national broadcast of This TV (part owner of This TV). Also, Weigel already has plans to eliminate FBT (brokered ethnic programming) in favor of U Too (an extension of WCIU 26.1 with existing shows in different timeslots, but newer independent programming almost not seen anywhere else in December). Weigel gets some money from WGN-TV for when WGN-TV must farm out their sportscasts to WCIU, due to CW programming, or another sportscast that's on at the same time.

Maybe this is the answer: I looked up an article on RTV and it said that in some markets, RTV shows are already seen on other stations, so those RTV affiliates have to put in a different program at that time.

So, if that's the case Antenna TV in Chicago will most likely be THE THREE STOOGES CHANNEL.

Doesn't AMC/IFC have the rights to the Stooges?

Not on a local level. In Chicago, Weigel Broadcasting has those rights - and has shown the Stooges for a number of years now.

Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.......

From the Website only, Benny Hill, Three's Company and Two Close For Comfort are the only shows on Antenna TV that are not on ME-TV in Chicago.
The dark-haired sister from "Too Close for Comfort" was on "The Event". Yikes! I suppose she was supposed to look like a grandmother. Maybe in real life she's still pretty.
