ANY CHRISTMAS IN JULY MUSIC ON THE RADIO?

I'd like to know if any radio stations around the country will be doing Christmas in July programming over the next 2 weeks. I know that it's big in Australia and New Zealand, but I wonder if any US radio stations will try it.

Positive Life Radio always goes to Christmas music on July 25th (Christian radio network in WA/OR). It's all for a station-wide food drive. Guess which day I *won't* be listening to them?

We dont here in Alaska, but I'vew been known to play an errant Christmas song or two in the middle of summer on a hot day

Of course, their "winter" is our "summer". It... sort of... makes sense Down Under.

i did it today on KSKO.... a listener called up and wanted to request a cold song, so this is what i picked as we swelter with upper 80s.

I've never heard of "Christmas in July" music on radio here in the US. Curious as to how popular it really is in Oz, and which stations play it and how many Christmas songs -- is it in blocks? Christmas songs interspersed among the regular hits?

KOEZ 104.1 in Des Moines going all-Christmas for the weekend, I see.

Be lucky you don’t live in South Carolina where the recently defunct WSPA 98.9/106.3 was always flipping to Christmas every chance it would get.

Not all the way defunct, actually. Still on HD and if you are one of the lucky ones, on translators. I don't think it can be heard on traditional radio in Greenville or Spartanburg.

Christmas music in July? No thanks, an instant tune out. After Thanksgiving....give me any song any day, as long it isn't Mariah 7 times a day! :ROFLMAO:

Actually, the last year they were on 106.3, they didn’t do Christmas music at all until November 1st. Which was a record in recent years 🤣 no Christmas in July, no preview weekend, etc…

But yes, WYRD-HD2/WFBC-HD4 and two translators that cover about a third of the market if that, Audacy’s “Magic Upstate”, in Greenville-Spartanburg did Christmas in July this past Fri-Sun. It was a decent effort, they had a live/local host interacting with listeners and promoted their *4* signals quite often. No commercials.

During the pandemic when there were a lot of lockdowns and businesses were closed across the country, I remember quite a few stations were playing some Christmas music in the summer. I think the idea was to try and bring some cheer to listeners during the difficult times they were having.
