From the Post Register, online, October 23, Idaho Falls, Ida.:
Cannon was hosting the local 1/2 hour (required by law?) public affairs program and was the station's community/outreach employee for the past 10 years or so.
The economic downturn has claimed a local television personality.
Steve Cannon, a fixture at KIDK for more than three decades, was one of three employees at the station to lose his job this week.
A sales representative was also let go, as was a part-time worker.
Getting rid of Cannon, who spent 22 years as the station’s weather man, was a tough move made necessary by the dismal economy, said Jim Wareham, KIDK’s general manager.
"This is the same thing all media is facing right now - we’re in a tough economic situation and we made a simple business decision," said Wareham, whose first day on the job was Oct. 13.
