Any FMs or mid AMs for sale in South Carolina?

Hi, I own an FM in New Jersey but would consider a move to South Carolina because of the better climate and lower cost of living. If you are interested in selling or know of someone that might want to sell please reply to this message or send email to lymeaudio @ hotmail.com thanks! Joe

Powell

Hey Powell what do you know about KSC being for sale????? If I still lived down in SC and had the $$$$$ I would love to own that station... I know I am crazy, but that would be a project that if ran right even in K town could still make a little money... BTW I will be down in SC next weekend for about 10 days... I will have my 2 meter rig with me... I was hoping to get a little get together planned, but with work and with the switchover here at RI I have not had the time to get things together like I wanted... Email me offlist about what you know concerning KSC... BTW what repeters do most of you guys hang out on... 73 from the land that time forgot Rockford IL... CC

The mighty 1290 WQMC-AM Morris College(Sumter, S.C,) is going off the air June 30,2006 due to lack of funding. WQMC is a full-time 1000 watt station with directional aray at night. The equipment/ transmitter is OLD and will have to be replaced for a quality installation.

I understand 1390 in Belton, SC, just outside Anderson is for sale. Not much there, very old equipment, but it would be cheap. I think its WLUA now. Formally WHPB.

Never knew what happened to WHPB-AM. Worked there before I was old enough to get a drivers license. It was in a ramshackle 1950's building between Belton and Honea Path. Old rusty tower with a twist in the middle (salvaged from a taller structure that went down in a hurricane on the coast) Let's see....Gates 80 stereo console, 1977 MW-1 transmitter with one module burned to bits. no real processing, just a inovonics NRSC box. two turntables, cassette decks. ONE working be cart playback. ONE working home cd player. One working cart recorder. Magnecord r2r. 3 old shure 556's with dry rotted bases. Supposedly was stereo at some point and Matt took the components to RIX. That explained the stereo console. Big box of parts from an old RCA at WABV. I thought I was in heaven just being on the air at 14 years of age, even with the rat droppings in the stacks of 45's. Rob Bryson bought the license in the late 90's and ran it from that location for some time. I helped him get started up. Transmitter had bad diodes in the VSWR circuit. Then the tower and equipment just disappeared. Saw on fcc site that Graham Brock was helping him move, but never heard anything on the air. Wonder what the magic number would be to get that license...
