At Friday evening's Diamondbacks-Mets baseball game at CitiField in Flushing, Queens: while the Mets batters are introduced to the crowd they'll have Beastie Boys songs playing in the background. On WFAN, Mets announcer Josh Lewin noted the passing of Adam along with all of his other accomplishments outside of music just before the 1st pitch at 7:11pm.

If I am not mistaken, they were the station that broke out the Beastie Boys...if not on rotation then definitely on a Red Alert/Chuck Chillout mix.

"She's On It", was the first Beasties Screamer Of The Week on WDRE on January 1, 1986, though they were certainly in contention with their indie release "Cooky Puss" in 1983. Back in those days, WLIR played "Cooky Puss" (the censored version, of course) a *lot*.

You're probably right on that, since the Beastie Boys did start out on an alternative/punk slant before they went to "rap" (which is what I had considered them, not hip-hop).
