Even though I'm no longer watch "Simpsons" I thought about this after posting my latest 2022 prediction speculating that at least one "Simpsons" voice will announce his or her retirement next year.
Made me think of this: Whenever that eventual day comes, how do you think the "Simpsons" will end its last episode?
My thought--based on how they never age in animation in 32 years--that the Simpsons do a take-off of the last "Newhart" where the show is revealed to be an entire dream.
I'm no writer but I thought of a few lines.
It starts with cliffhanger scene where Homer is either fatally hit by a golf ball, a golf club, or a golf cart at Mr. Burns' company golf outing (one of Homer's stupid actions was to cost him his life).
Then Homer wakes up--with Season 1 animation of him and Marge in their bed.
Homer: "You won't believe the dream I just had. The entire Springfield area was moved to some strange place where everyone was animated and never aged in 32 years."
Marge: "That's what happens when you eat 3 whole boxes of 2 week-old donuts before bed."
Homer: "Where am I?"
Marge: "You're safe and sound back in good old 1990. May 21, 1990 that is. In fact, the last episode of Newhart is on tonight. I hear it might have an interesting ending. Also, I heard on the news recently that Fox is going to put a hit new show with an animated family up against Cosby on Thursdays this fall."
Homer: "Who would be crazy enough to go against Cosby?"
(Later moves to a scene of the Simpson house with the last Newhart on)
Homer: "Hey Newhart--you stole my dream I had last night!" (Show ends with "Bob Newhart Show" closing theme playing in credits).
