Any translator for sale in the houston area. Ready to buy

You might try K229BJ 93.7 in the San Antonio area.
It's had terrible audio quality since mid 2016 and their primary station they're rebroadcasting didn't even know about 93.7 when I messaged the primary station asking if they'd fix 93.7's audio quality. 93.7 currently has a loud hum in the audio and is staticy much of the time.

I am a buyer in the Houston market looking for a Fm translator with a wide range.
Unless you're willing to break the rules, there are no translators in Houston that have a "wide range". The Houston market is larger than the State of New Jersey. Translators are useless here unless you plan to broadcast to a certain area of town.

With the drop in prices for full time stations, you're better off approaching Estrella Media to see if they're interested in unloading one of their rimshots. I know Salem has been selling some of their stations as well.

No. looking for one to broadcast

You will have to lease time on an existing AM station or FM HD subchannel in order to have an originating station. Translators cannot originate their own programming. This is what several local South Asian broadcasters are doing, for example.

I guess the FCC is going easy on the people who don't know all the rules.

And the ones who do, but choose to break them anyway.

To answer the original poster's question though, there are some for sale, though they would prefer to rent. Asking price is around $2.5 million each.

Moving translators into Houston by lying on virtually every form you file with the FCC can apparently be very profitable.

That's astronomically high for today's market. You can get a rimshot for a couple million more. You wouldn't have to worry about other translators moving into your area, LPFMs, or even renting a parent station to feed the translator. Nevermind the fact that you're at the mercy of other fully licensed stations not moving into your area or being forced off the air via complaints/CPs (which is happening to K279AB in San Antonio)

Agreed.

All I can tell you is that’s the price you get when their broker contacts you (unsolicited) with an offer to lease one of the signals, and you ask how much for a purchase instead.

Could it be the we really don’t want to sell it and would prefer to lease it price? Absolutely.

Emailed replied to.

Leasing is also something that i would consider, if the price is fair. Our objective is to own our station. Especially analyzing the

market over the last several years.

Any one with information or knowledge please send me an email [email protected] or call 281-975-8272. We

are experienced programmer/broadcaster, looking to take leap forward owning a station or affordable air time.
