Any Undiscovered radio coverage of JFK Assassination 22nd November 1963

Supposedly the news director at WFAA AM heard police on the scanner talking about shots being fired, and broke in with an ad-libbed bulletin less than a minute after the shooting. I've never heard a recording of it -- I'm sure if one exists, David Von Pein would have it.

Not neccessarily as not every station had the Infinite Wisdom to keep those airchecks (Or EVEN RECORD one during such events). Those (Like WCCO) who did realized tthey were PRESERVING HISTORY by doing so

That's my point, Pat. Any station that had logger tapes or the like either long ago reused those tapes or archived them, and any of that content has been available for years. Any airchecks recorded off the air by listeners would have certainly surfaced by now, given that it has been 60 years since that tragic event.

And if those aircheck collectors didn't trade copies when they were alive, it's very likely their heirs either sold them off (at which point those would have become known) ... or even more likely that they trashed "Dave's collection of old tapes that no one could possibly want."

So your "not necessarily" is more of the wishful thinking engaged in far too often around here. Would you please join us in the 21st Century?

Well I opened up with those words because not every station takes the time to think of preserving history the way WCCO seemingly does (Either they do it themselves or a very devoted listener does, I'm not sure which)

That's what I was saying

On that point, I have to sadly agree with you. Many opportunities for preservation of historic broadcasts have been lost due to shortsightedness,

For that reason, I still believe there aren't any "undiscovered" airchecks out there.

Perhaps not but if we know David Von Pein, he's STILL looking & ALWAYS on the lookout :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

And how about this for a surprise, in tribute of WCBS NewsRadio 880, Ellis Feaster posted an aircheck of WCBS NewsRadio 880 & it's coverage of the February 6th, 1971 Blackout

Thanks all for your responses, the DVP site is wonderful, unfortunately, it's blocked here in the UK - at least via SKY Broadband - I think, as the years go on, less and less coverage will have been discovered, primarily because of the reasons discussed above.

And because not much of it is left that hasn't been unearthed or preserved to be remastered & brought into the light like NBC & CBS did with their coverage (Except maybe for a longer clip of Mutual's coverage)

On TV, I'm not convinced ABC TV would've even bothered as it was so TERRIBLE in the beginning (Though by the standards of TODAY, they KICKED THE BUTTS of BOTH NBC & ABC by being able to switch back & forth to & from WFAA the way they did (Although NONE of the networks make THAT kind of a switch while covering breaking news TODAY however)

The ONLY radio network that kept in regular contact with its affiliate was (Ironically) NBC (Which had two-way communication with WFAA Radio after some initial problems (Which were broadcast on WBAP 820) while NBC TV got reports from WBAP (Now O&O KXAS)

And if DVP's site is blocked in the UK, then ALL of YouTube (If not all of GOOGLE itself) is blocked

If that's the case, a VPN may be in order
