Video streaming service Deltatre is nearing a deal with Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. to be the digital video provider for the 21 regional sports networks that the broadcaster bought last year from Walt Disney Co., according to two people familiar with the talks.
Deltatre would provide the underlying technology for live sports broadcasts across the various networks, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the negotiations are private. Financial details weren’t disclosed.
Sinclair and Bruin Sports Capital, which owns Deltatre, didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
If completed, the deal could boost the value of Deltatre at a time when its owners are considering a sale. Bloomberg News reported in December that Bruin was exploring strategic options for the company, including the possibility of a sale valuing the company at $1 billion or more.
Marquee Sports Network, the new channel being launched Feb 22 by the Chicago Cubs and Sinclair Broadcast Group, took a big step by making a carriage deal to be streamed as part of the Hulu+ Live TV lineup.

It is Marquee’s first over-the-top deal with a virtual MVPD (multichannel video programming distributor), which is important because it means Cubs fans can watch games if they cut the cord.
The dominant cable operator in Chicago is Comcast, which has not yet made a deal with Marquee. Comcast also is a part owner of NBC Sports Chicago, which carried Cubs games on cable last year and continues to carry the White Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks.
The new deal could be in the 10-to-15-year range, per a source, and it was earlier believed to be worth somewhere near a $48-52 million average per year, though that figure is not yet confirmed.
The Royals’ 11-year deal with FSKC expired after the 2019 season. That deal was backloaded and brought the Royals about $25 million last season, though its annual average was closer to $20 million.
The Royals could of started their own Network or FSN Midwest Plus in KC area show Cardinals Games,Grizzles and so on.
Also CCi is in Illinois and like KS/MO and so on but no deal yet sane with Mediacom,Google Fiber,Sudderlink and so on.
Sinclair makes that announcement the same day that YouTube TV warns they expect to enter a carriage dispute with Sinclair regarding the Fox Sports networks starting on Saturday, Feb. 29. A coincidence, I'm sure.

Sinclair talking about launching their RSN's into direct to customer service though.
Sinclair Broadcast Group today established a multimillion-dollar emergency fund to offer financial support to nearly 1,000 eligible freelancers who work across its Fox Regional Sports Networks, as well as the Marquee Sports Network.
As part of the fund, all eligible freelancers will be able to receive an immediate $2,500 interest-free advance beginning on Friday, April 3. The fund is being launched in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has indefinitely halted the production of live sports, depriving these freelancers of work.
“This is an unprecedented time for the world and the media, but few in our industry are feeling the impacts of the coronavirus more than those who work in sports,” said Sinclair CEO Chris Ripley. “Across the nation, these nearly 1,000 freelancers work tirelessly season after season to bring fans the best in live sports. As we face this extraordinary event, we are hoping that this fund will provide integral assistance to our key team members.”
