Taking this thread waaaaay off track (an express hijacking): yes, I listened to the English/French EC radio station when in Pembroke, ON and came away with the same impression. Why not split them? Oh well, at least both announcements were pretty comprehensive.
Try being in El Paso, TX and using a walkman to get your weather info (as they are not very sensitive/selective on wx band). The only weather radio station I could get was NOAA's Spanish station from nearby Santa Maria, NM - despite staying right by the El Paso airport! In that case, I couldn't get an English language broadcast at all! Apparently, there is one. But the stronger Spanish broadcast (with 3x the power) wins out by a mile.
Most walkman style radios have enough trouble separating stations that are 0.4 MHz apart, let alone weather stations that are 0.075 MHz apart. The tuners just aren't selective enough to pull that off. For that, you need an actual weather radio.
