Anyone know what the plans are for WJMF-LP, aka 87.7 The Bridge?

How about moving the format to either WZQK 1240/94.3 or WFQY 970/99.1? If money were no option I would restore the signals of both AM stations. 1240 is running almost inaudible audio and 970 is low and distorted also. 94.3 sounds ok but doesn't do well on cheap radios due to it being sandwiched between K-Love and Air 1. 99.1 is only 99 watts and barely makes it to Brandon. If 970 were fixed It would cover my area well. As far as the TV station, If I had the money I would convert it to full TV operation I can think of several diginets that we don't receive such as "Get TV, Cozi, RTV, Charge! or Buzzr" or they could put on a religous channel to pay the bills. They could also simulcast the radio station on a subchannel. Of course this would cost a lot of money.

Pat3 - your last sentence sums it up. No one is going to spend a lot of money on an AM signal in a small market.

Last night and this morning 87.7 was off the air. Anyone know if the station is gone all together or transitioning to something else?

The owner has filed for a digital flash cut and a CP extension. He found a better deal on replacement equipment and told the FCC he would be able to swap over to digital, but could not get the equipment or a tower crew to be able to meet the 7/13 deadline. There was an indication that they would drop the power to 0.051 kw for a period of time. Maybe they have already completed the digital flash cut.

I figured that they would drop the power level on 7/13, when they have to stop broadcasting the analog audio carrier.

Here is the link to the FCC application that was granted for a digital flash cut maintaining RF 6, with call letters changing to WJMF-LD:

Here is the link to the application for the Extension of a Construction Permit to extend the digital flash cut above for 6 months, which the FCC has not acted on as of this post. The analog audio carrier still has to shut off by 11:59pm local time 7/13/2021.

Will WJMF-LD (channel 6-1?) become just a (digital) TV station after July 13? I assume the station will no longer be heard on 87.7 FM.

The assumption is that this will be the case. There wasn't any indication in the FCC filings of a STA or Special Temporary Authority request to continue to broadcast the analog audio carrier.

The San Jose, CA station that got permission to continue their 87.7 signal has to broadcast ATSC 3.0 24/7 with both video and audio in sync. WJMF's owner indicated in paperwork that he just recently managed to find affordable equipment to perform the flash cut to digital, as opposed to shutting down operations due to lack of sufficient resources. Also, the owner filed for a CP extension of the digital flash cut, as the tower crew and equipment upgrade cannot be completed before 7/13, meaning the station has to run silent at least for a little while. I suspect he is not going to be broadcasting in ATSC 3.0 after the flash cut, which probably means he won't qualify for the STA if he applied.

WZQK (1240) and W232DD (94.3) are already simulcasting WJMF-LP (which is supposed to go off-the-air by midnight tonight).

I just checked and WJMF-LP analog audio on 87.7 is off the air as of 11:55pm, while WZQK (1240) and W232DD (94.3) identify themselves now as just "The Bridge" without the 87.7 in front of it.

I just checked The Bridge's facebook page out, they have several fun posts about the move to 1240 and 94.3. There is also a link to the Inside Radio article about the reprieve of The Bridge.

I've seen the Facebook posts...and the Inside Radio article.
