Anyone know what time tomorrow for the end of WLIR, The Bone and Party 105?

Any word on a possible time? Lir played Alphaville at the end of the flashback lunch, so that makes me think 12pm tomorrow or earlier.

In an automated system, Alphaville was probably played by chance. My guess would be Midnight tonight, Noon on the 15th or 5:00 PM on the 15th. Since there are no DJs (like on 1/9/04) there isnt much to say at noon or 5:00 PM so maybe it will be tonight.

Maybe they won't even end with Alphaville.

I'm currently monitoring all three stations, which surprisingly, I am able to get tonight (typically reception to one or more is iffy where I am in Port Jeff)...LIR has been playing nothing but 80's music for the past hour or so, with the only ads for the Best Buy new music thing they do, and promos for live streaming on their website! They've played some relative rarities...Orange Crush by REM, Radio Radio by Elvis Costello, R. Star - Losing Your Memory, etc.

Party was "live" from Hurricane O'Malley's in Centereach and was playing an extended dance mix, but no one came on live, and no ads.

The Bone is all over the place...heard Smashing Pumpkins, Judas Priest and random classic rock in the past half hour...no ads that I caught.

If there's a flip at midnight, I'll post again.

THEY MIGHT FLIP NOW

Just caught Seany O on Party, from Hurricane O'Malley's...he was saying farewell to all the DJ's and the listeners and said "in a few minutes the face of radio will change forever"...I'll stay tuned...

PARTY FIRST TO FLIP

At 12:02 AM, a new voice came on with no fanfare, gave the station ID, and introduced "FM CHANNEL 105 - PARTY HITS"

LIR just flipped too, with no warning: First song, Sting - Fields of Gold

Can't tell what's up on 98.5...sounds the same

For the record, final songs on Party and LIR:

Party - Pump Up the Volume (MARRS)
LIR - Time of Your Life (Green Day)

Re: PARTY FIRST TO FLIP

All the stations now with the new ID's (no "commercials" yet)...:

"LONG ISLAND ROCK - FM CHANNEL 98 - EVERYTHING THAT ROCKS"
"YOU ARE LISTENING TO THE NEOBREEZE FM CHANNEL 107"
"YOU ARE LISTENING TO FM CHANNEL 105 - PARTY HITS"

I think "FM Channel 107" is currently playing Enya. Ugh.

UPDATE: Short 10 second ad for "House Magazine" on "FM Channel 107" ...seguing directly into an acoustic version of Seal's Don't Cry.
Edited by neo11 on 09/15/05 04:18 AM.

At the start this sounds like a really bad CHR (not sure the name of the song that just played, just after Christina Millan's, but it sounds insanely out of place, (basically the slow older ballads Party always poked fun at KTU for). Almost sounds like an adult oriented CHR with all the songs (other than Millan) being on the softer CHR side more Hot ACish

Playing Kanye West "Gold Digger" right now, so not as Hot Acish as they seemed to be from the first 7 or soo songs. Still this sounds bad, REALLY BAD for a CHR, the whole mutlticasting ipod no jock garbage is a really bad mix on CHR, the signal still blows, no way in hell could they even remortley compete with BLI. By the way as I write this they are going from Kanye West's "Gold Digger" to Michael Jackson's "Beat it"

New liner: "FM is Free Modulation...XM is Expensive Modulation"...think it's even smart of them to mention XM on the air?

PLAYING A DANCE SONG!!! (but 2 softer CHR to Hot Acish songs surround it)

They just played "Everything is Going to be Alright" drawing a blank on the artist, only problem surrounded it with some slow Hot Acish type ballad befor it & whatever this "Wake me up when September Ends" song after it

Somehow I don't think Jet is "Party" music...this is "Party Hits" after all, right?

They keep saying Channel 98, Channel 107, and Channel 105.
Technically it's Channel 253, Channel 296, and Channel 287.
Just thought I'd bring up that fun tid bit.
(All FM slots in the US are assigned channel numbers from
200 @ 87.9 to 300 @ 107.9).
