I was just curious if anyone here was listening to 92.9 KBLX during this past Sunday afternoon's bad weather?
The board-op/automation babysitter (I'm assuming) popped on the air I believe around 2:30 or so to read a severe weather statement/tornado warning and did this right on top of the song that was playing! "The National Weather Service has issued...." and right after starting to read the announcement said "...and this is my first time doing this I do not know what I am saying..." and then read off the counties and while reading the statement the computer played a promo spot for some Weebie/Lil Boosie giveaway/concert.. When the spot ended and went back into music he picked up where he left off over the intro of Mary J "Just Fine" continuing reading the counties covered.
I almost drove off the road I was laughing so hard after he said "..this is my first time doing this I do not know what I am saying..." I guess it goes to show how sad radio has become. I can just imagine this kid running from control room to control room reading the statement/warning on the air.
