Anyone want to be the new ESPN affiliate in Birmingham or Huntsville?

JOX has the AM and FM so they can keep ESPN on one just to keep it from COX. But that means COX can pick up Fox Sports and get rid of the horrible Yahoo Sports. I still wonder how Finebaum will affect JOX and The Zone. Have they come to terms yet on him?

I initially thought the same thing you did. But reading other stories last week, it seems as though Cumulus would let those previous agreements with ESPN Radio expire or be canceled (individual affiliations, not ESPN Radio ad sales--though they're giving that up too).

For larger market stations with both AM and FM stations, one will likely keep its regular slate of local shows (most likely the FM), while the other [the AM] takes the full CBS Sports national lineup. Pay close attention to how the press release notes the CBS stations that are doing this.

There may be a small chance for Cox to secure ESPN Radio if it really wanted it.

I would bet dollars to donuts that when the Fox affiliation becomes available Cox will jump on it and then we'll have another programming shake up at the Zone. A chance to save a little money and get Patrick and Rome may be too good for Cox to pass on.

WUMP mentioned they will be losing the ESPN contract next year. They are also simulcasting WJOX's stuff, including Finebaum, starting Friday. Odd day to start.
