Are people finally getting tired of racist talk radio (namely WEEI)?

WEEI dropping from a 6 to a 4.5 in the last year does have me raising that question. Have people finally had enough of D&C's METCO zoo antics? And while we're at it, is CC, with all of its layoffs, going to (finally) force Kiss to stick strictly to the R&R top 40 playlist (which shares far too much Jam'n music to thrive) in CC's attempts to nationalize its music stations to nationalized music formats? If so, what happens to Matty and Billy, given CC's expressed desire to plant Ryan Seacrest (sound effect, VB: UUNH! UUNH!) and/or Kidd Kraddick in AM drives everywhere?

Just thought I'd ask! ???

I don't listen to them enough to know, but what kind of racism have they been doing lately? Criticizing the
new prez, who happens to be half-African-American? Are they making fun of black, Asian, or other athletes?
The METCO incident was awhile ago but is there a steady stream of racist incidents? If so, I'm sure the
papers would have reported them. What steady incidents of racism have they perperated?

There alot of Racist Talk on Boston Radio. Someone talk about Governor trick out caddy ( car ) that made The Governor wife P*** off . Imus on Pac-man Jones problems," He is Black ? So there you go ". Bill O'Reilly at a Soul food restaurant in NY, " I didnt know Black People eat with forks and spoons ". Rush and Al Sharpton radio GARBAGE . Barnicle and his Mandingo talk .

Steve:
Are you talking about a fall-to-fall drop? You mean the drop from the Red Sox winning the World Series and the Patriots in the midst of an undefeated season to the news-oriented "most important" Presidential election of our lifetime? And spouting off about years-old Metco stuff further solidifies my thought that your issue is with D&C specifically and you'll use whatever specious opportunity you can to bring it up. I have a feeling that if you actually listened (which you obviously don't) you might have issues with things said by varying hosts, but race-baiting, like you're attempting here, would not come up on your complaint list. Nice try though.

"Tricked out" means "all decorated". The Commonwealth's first lady was upset but it's not a racist term.
It showed up in some TV commercials for Progressive Insurance, I believe, and the people in the ad
were all white, from what I've heard. Was Imus saying that the media, etc., were picking on Jones
because he was black? Not sure if that's racist, pointing out that _others_ are picking on someone because of
their skin color.
I hadn't heard that O'Reilly comment; his radio show will be ending soon as it is.

The "Magic Negro" song, by Rush's parodist, was pointing out that a columnist had referred to Barack
that way.

A black columnist, it was said.

The Sharpton character in the song sings, "The L.A. Times they call him that/
'Cause he's not authentic like me." The target of the song is Sharpton and his followers.
It even brings up his "white interlopers" term.\

Sharpton had his share of controversy, as detailed in this piece
by Project 21, a conservative African-American organization:

I'll add that to tie this in to today's holiday, perhaps the parodist, Paul Shanklin, was simply
judging Sharpton not by the color or his skin but by the content of his character (Freddy's
Fashion Mart; Tawana Brawley, etc.) Maybe Sharpton has done some good in his time,
but read that piece from the Project 21 website and see why he has been controversial.

Now that Obama is President, look like that old "one drop rule" has change . D&C always talk about bad things about Obama but I am not sure it is racist. But if someone turn on WEEI in the middle of D&C Obama rants , they may think D&C is being racist.

"There they go...there they go...ev'ry time I start talkin' 'bout boxin'...a white person's gotta talk about Rocky Marciano! That's they one!"

Racing is part of sports! What?...oh...that's different...nevermind!

Racism will never go away. We can all hope. But, reality sucks.

And so does racism.

And in sports...it retains relevance. Sad. But true.

I think it is called "bandwagon jumping".
#12 going down in the first game didn't help WEEI
Come spring with The Celts poised to make another run, the Sox starting spring training & the Bruins making what appears to be their first serious run in many a year I think WEEI will get a boost in the ratings.

I wonder if WEEI will increase the hockey talk if the Bruins do go deep into the playoffs. Right now, there's still lots of "Brass Bonanza" anytime the team gets mentioned. Will people get on the bandwagon, like the did with the Celts last year... (myself included ;D)

I check in early, and if they're talking RS I usually stay. If they're on the crime stuff --D&C fascinated with prison rape for some reason?-- I bug out.
I don't find them racist by the way. But do they like anyone, anywhere, sticking up for themselves? No. I think they follow the O'Rielly model.

If there were any racist remarks made on WEEI, there would be hell to pay. Remember where we are. The media, led by the Globe, would be all over them. I guess topics like this are supposed to suggest that anyone who criticizes Obama is a racist. I didn't vote for him because his resume fits on a 3x5 card. It has nothing to do with his race.

Without the Pats involved in the playoffs, left to their own devices D&C make poor choices. Callahan doesn't have the pipes to be the last angry man. It's a tough listen, and I've tuned out almost as quickly as I've tuned in this week.

Exactly. A few isolated incidents that were dealt with immediately make the whole station racist? Please. Some people just have to see racism (or insert another ism here) around every corner.
You want racist? Listen to Al Sharpton or watch Rev. Wright on Youtube.

Correct, I don't think they are actually saying anything specifically racist...because they learned from METCO. However, it's like the bully on the schoolyard to keeps poking some kid and then gets yelled at "Don't poke him anymore"

So, then the bully proceeds to start to poke, but not actually touch the kid over and over again while saying "I'm not poking you, I'm not poking you"

They're right wingers, so they would be making fun of any Democrat in a position of power, they have repeatedly. That's what they do. And I'm glad the ratings are showing people are sick of it.
