Are there any other NBC O&O that pre-empt NBC Primetime for Baseball by Comcast?

I noticed that KNTV in San Jose has done this for Giants games for 2 years now. Has any other NBC O&O's Aired their baseball team in their markets produced Comcast sports net or any regional sports network besides KNTV 11. I remember when KNTV was Independent they aired San Jose Sabercats Minor Football. with then affiliate KBWB 20 now KOFY 20 in 2001

Re: Are there any other NBC O&O that pre-empt NBC Primetime for Baseball by Comcast?

NBC Chicago (WMAQ-TV) does not pre-empt their primetime schedule for baseball, due to WGN-TV holding the Chicago rights to most sportscasts. They only air sportscasts that I know of that air at the network level, but not at the local level. With WGN-TV holding the Chicago rights to the Chicago Cubs & I believe the White Sox, WMAQ-TV won't air them. Since WGN-TV is a CW affiliate, they usually have to farm out weekday evening sportscasts to independent station WCIU, due to having to commit to CW programming. WGN-TV also holds the Chicago rights to The Blackhawks (hockey) & Bulls (basketball), & I last remember some of the Bears (football) sportcasts as well.

KNTV is the only NBC O&O that carries baseball on the local level. WNBC has New York Giants preseason football, but that's only during the summer and mostly Saturday nights. I believe they still have the rights to the New York Marathon; NBC nationally broadcasts a condensed version on the day of the event. KNBC, from about 2002 to 2008, carried the Los Angeles Marathon, but outside of that, they haven't televised events exclusive to the market.

I remember when the New York City Marathon used to be carried nationally by ABC.

And wasn't there a period not too long ago that the marathon was carried only in New York (on WNBC) and not nationally?

I remember back in the 1990's KPIX then Group W owned aired Warriors Games Produced by (Sports Channel) Now Comcast Sports before KPIX became a CBS O&O and the operation ended.
Also KTVU used to pre-empt Fox shows until 2008 or 2009 and gave it over to KNTV. The reason KTVU ended it was because Fox Network airs Baseball on the weekend and more viewers are interested in watching American Idol and 24 at the time that KTVU stopped airing the syndicated version of Giants games.

WPIX carried the Marathon from 1994 until some time around the turn of the century (I think 2000 was the last one they aired). I also believe their coverage was syndicated nationally and/or aired on ESPN 2.

I remember one year KTVU pre-empted the Stanley Cup Finals on FOX for Giants baseball, except that the Giants game was in rain delay. So, instead of going back to the NHL they ran their rain delay package of I Love Lucy episodes with a "Rain Delay" bug in the corner. After enough people complained, KTVU split screen the NHL and I Love Lucy but the NHL game was muted so we could hear Lucy and Eythl. Finally, someone came to their senses and put the NHL back up full screen since whatever stadium the Giants were playing at that day was underwater with no signs of letting up. It took a period and a half but cooler heads prevailed.

I believe it's now carried nationally on the Universal Sports channel - though it may be on tape delay. I believe USN also carries the Boston Marathon (WBZ's feed?).
