Areas of the U.S. where you can receive CHRs from other markets.

I was thinking of this the other day when I was in Barrington, New Hampshire and was flipping the dial and realized that in certain places you could receive 94.1 WFTN of Franklin, NH, 95.3 WSKX of York Center, Maine, 97.9 WJBQ of Portland, Maine, 105.5 WJYY of Concord, NH and 107.9 WXKS of Boston, MA. I have family there and have never really noticed before that you could get 5 CHRs.

Who else has had this happen to them while traveling where you can get many CHRs from multiple states?

My other observation was of Sanford, Maine where you can get 3. WJBQ and WSKX come in everywhere in town but WXKS comes in best on Mount Hope road which is up a steep incline.

Then Scarborough, Maine receives 3 with WJBQ, WSKX and 92.3 WMME of Augusta, Maine.

So the most I've ever received in one place is 5. Anyone have more?

In LA, we have 102.7 KIIS-FM, 97.1 AMP Radio, and nearby 99.1 KGGI in Riverside. In rare times, SD CHRs can come in aswell. I've heard Channel 933 and Z90.3 here.

Youngstown, OH's where it's at.
You can get in certain areas...
95-9 Kiss Youngstown,
96-1 Kiss Pittsburgh
96-5 Kiss Cleveland
98.1 WKDD Akron
92.5 WDJQ Canton
104.1 WQAL Cleveland
101.1 WHOT Youngstown.
Not to mention b94 out of pittsburgh when it existed.

Youngstown is quite lucky.

Here in Dayton....

Channel 945: All Premium Choice
Q102: Adult CHR (though, good)
KISS 107: Lame corporate-sounding CC

Why does this part of Ohio have to get this!? lol.

I might be liberal with my use of "CHR" here, but in Franklin County, Vermont, one might pull in:

95 Triple X
94.7 Hits FM (Chateaugay, NY)
Virgin Radio Montreal
Energie
CKOI

Biloxi-Gulfport can get B97 New Orleans and Mobile-Pensacola stations WABB and I-100. SL100 Laurel-Hattiesburg puts a little bit of a signal there, but it's better the further north you go. I can also get SL100 here in Jackson at times when I'm in the car. Some days are better than others and depending on what part of town.

Memphis has its own CHR, Q107.5, but Kiss FM from Jonesboro comes in, especially in the car.

In Orlando you can receive 107.1 A1A out of Melbourne on the east end, the legendary 933FLZ on the west end, and 103.3 the VYB out of Daytona Beach on the north end.

In Felton, PA (which is about 2 hours west of Philly) I can get:

92.1 WWKL Palmyra, PA (Harrisburg area)
93.7 WSTW Wilmington, DE
94.1 WQKX Sunbury, PA
96.5 WRDW Philadelphia, PA
96.7 WDLD Halfway, MD
96.9 WLAN Lancaster, PA
99.3 WHKF Harrisburg, PA
99.5 WIHT Washington, DC
102.1 WIOQ Philadelphia, PA
104.3 WZFT Baltimore, MD

From Concord, CA (30 Miles NE of San Francisco) in a car radio...

KREV 92.7 (San Francisco) - Fair signal depending on location, but has interference from 92.7 KZSQ

KYLD 94.9 (San Francisco) - Local signal

KHOP 95.1 (Stockton) - Good signal

KWIN 97.7 (Stockton) - Fair signal, but has interference from KFFG 97.7 (San Jose)

KMVQ 99.7 (San Francisco) - Local signal

KSFM 102.5 (Sacramento) - Good signal

KBMB 103.5 (Sacramento) - Fair signal depending on location

KHTN 104.7 (Merced/Modesto) - Fair signal depending on location

KMEL 106.1 (San Francisco) - Local signal

KDND 107.9 (Sacramento) - Fair signal depending on location

From Martinsville Indiana

96.7 WBWB B-97 good Signal

Z-99.5 WZPL Adult top 4o Local Signal

Radio Now 100.9 WNOU-Good Signal

100.7 WMGI-Weak Signal

I-94 93.9 Fair Signal

98.9 Kiss FM WKSF on some car radios in the right location DX Signal

100.5 Gen X radio.. retro CHR... in some locations,, mainly in early morning DX Signal

107.3 WRZQ Hot AC-Good Signal..

So thats 6 or 7 here if you count the Adult friendly ones.. I dont really count the last 2, as they are extreme DX

I was able to hear A1A in Kissimmee.

In San Diego, there were moments when I could hear KIIS from Los Angeles. However, 102.9 from San Diego often prevented Kiss from coming in too well. Reception was better the farther north you go, particularly around Oceanside.

In New Orleans, you can hear WFMF Baton Rouge and vice versa. KSMB Lafayette can also be heard in Baton Rouge.

In most parts of Southeastern Connecticut, you can get

WKSS/Hartford
WKCI/New Haven
WQGN/Groton
WILI-FM/Willimantic
WPRO-FM/Providence, RI
WBEA/Southhold, NY (E. Long Island)

and if you want to include rhythmic CHR's, throw in WZMX/Hartford as well...
