Arguable... WGBH-FM Boston radio fundraising going on and on abuses public airwaves.

Why do you continually refer to "listening by antenna?"

They fundraise on the air because people won't donate unless they're bombarded.

It's more painful for those begging for the money than those listening. If they could get donations by email or by HD-2, they'd do it.

The FCC permits on air fundraising, and CPB requires that the majority of funds for public radio come from listeners.

For emphasis... as opposed to listening to broadcasts via other mediums.

Some public radio stations urge listeners to donate "because if we reach our goal we'll end the fundraising early".
One time Whad Ya Know, the comedy quiz show, kept getting interrupted by begathons. The announcer said the show was one of the most popular on 'GBH. Shortly afterwards, they dropped the show.

Tote bag premium radio and TV, offering begathons instead of commercials.

Bittner's fundraising pleas on WJIB (licensed as commercial but he chooses to fundraise rather than run ads) a bit less feequent.

As others point out, it's the same content regardless of the platform.

You don't get extra credit for listening via antenna. 99% of the public listen via antenna. That's why they fundraise using it.
