Arizona Rattlers to Broadcast Home Games on KASW Arizona 61

The Arizona Rattlers have made a deal with Scripps Sports to broadcast 8 Home Games with 6 on KASW Arizona 61 and 2 on Antenna TV 15.2. Apparently the 2 games on Antenna TV 15.2 already aired on March 30 and April 12. The 6 games on KASW Arizona 61 will air April 26 (this Saturday), May 10, May 17, June 14, June 28, and July 12.

Channel 15.2 aired the 3/30 and 4/12 games. Both games were yawners (I watched parts of both out of morbid curiosity). The IFL is roughly the equivalent of Class AA in baseball. This is not the stuff of prime time.

The various indoor football leagues in the U.S. are a collective gong show, but the IFL is probably the best of the motley bunch. I wouldn’t say they are like AA baseball; perhaps Pecos League is a better comparison.

Shows how the importance of sports content for TV has been elevated recently, despite many of the options not being very good.

Like old friends. The Rattlers were on 61 as early as 1996, which would have been the first arena season the station was on the air. The Rattlers probably benefit from their visibility legacy from the days when the AFL existed and was a reasonable operation.
