ARTICLE CLAIMS ME-TV TO SOON BE IN 45% OF THE COUNTRY

This article on deadline.com claims that Me-TV has been sold to Hearst Television, Raycom Media, Cox Television, Newport Television, Media General, Capitol Broadcasting, Bahakel Communications and Gray Television..........and will soon be in 45% of the country.

And we all know what soon is in TV time................probably the end of the year.

Link is currently on the TV page and should be there for awhile at least.

This brings up some questions.

In Atlanta Cox's WSB already has Retro TV and they would have to drop that for Me-TV......
.....or do nothing. I can't see them having both. Personally Me-TV is better than RTV. I'd bet
that WSB does nothing.

In Columbus Georgia, WRBL is a Media General Station with a full plate also. 3.2 is Retro TV
and 3.3 is weather. WTVM is owned by Raycom and has only weather on 9.2. WHO WOULD
GET ME-TV? The obvious choice would be WTVM (which has the room)..........if the chips fall
that way.

Gregg75, Cox has announced that WPXI in Pittsburgh will be dropping RTV for MeTV. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same happen in Atlanta.

I would hope so. I always thought it would take a lightening strike for WSB to get
rid of it............maybe they can pick RTV up on WANN.

Does anybody else see issues in their area?

It was just announced that KCNS in San Francisco dropped Chinese-language programming and picked up RTV. So I wouldn't dismiss Retro TV's market penetration yet. Neal Ardman has been openly courting the LPTV community to take RTV and the other networks Lukins deals with. There are a lot of LPTV stations. MGM marketing, on the other hand, has been much more picky about who carries MeTV and ThisTV.

I'll never understand how anyone could get excited over a moldy oldy tv network like (me-tv or antenna tv) what we need are more first run tv movies shows, and syndication especially on the broadcast tv stations on weekends.

They've given the article it's own page now.

Teevee Me-TV has a lot of old moldy shows that you hardly see anymore classic shows that people still fondly remember (12 O'clock High, Bob Newhart, Branded, Cannon, Combat, Car 54 Where Are You, Dick Van Dyke, Dobbie Gillis, Family Affair, Get Smart, Gomer Pyle, Guns Of Will Sonnett, Hawaii 5-0, Honeymooners, Hogan's Heroes,Marshall Dillon, Mary Tyler Moore, My Three Sons, Odd Couple, Perry Mason, Petticoat Junction,Rawhide, Streets Of San Francisco, Twilight Zone, Wild Wild West, etc.) and some folks enjoy watching retro stuff instead of HOT IN CLEVELAND. If you're under 30 it's probably not going to appeal to you.

Because a lot of those "moldy oldy" shows are more entertaining than the crap that passes as first-run right now. Let's see: Jed Clampett or Snooky and her 175 tattoos? Hmmmmmmm, tough one..... :D

KAZT in the Phoenix market had an online poll on their website a month or two ago with a list of "retro" programs and asked what viewers would like to see on their retro subchannel, currently with RTV. Some of the programs that were on the list were from Me-TV. The poll has since closed but they haven't hinted on what's going to happen.

Damn! Sorry I missed that poll. I looked very forward to the coming of RTV but once it aired I very rarely view it. Pretty sorry lineup. Me-TV has got to be better.

If Raycom is one of the partners in this, then I hope this will increase the chances that WMC in Memphis will carry ME-TV and that it will be picked up by Charter Cable in Jackson, TN, since Charter carries WMC's subchannels, which are currently This TV and Weather Plus.

LA will be getting it on KDOC.

I sure hope so...I've always thought that Me-TV (or RTV for that matter) would be perfect for that station, given their history of airing shows from yesteryear. Right now, they carry a Spanish-language God-caster on their DT2, while their DT3 is a simulcast of their HD feed. It would be nice to have a second option for classic shows, next to KTLA's Antenna TV (there isn't much that interests me on This TV).

Me-TV has released a press release: http://metvnetwork.com/metv_national_release.pdf

That press release says they have deals to air Me-TV on stations owned by the following companies: Hearst Television, Raycom Media, Cox Television, Newport Television, Media General, Capitol Broadcasting, Bahakel Communications,
Gray Television, Quincy Newspapers, New Age Media, MPS Media, London Broadcasting Group,
Bonten Media Group, and Titan Broadcast Management.

If Bahakel and Newport are included in this deal, then that also opens up the possibility of either WBBJ (Bahakel) or WJKT (Newport) in Jackson, TN carrying ME-TV, if one or the other of them would get off their backsides and finally decide to do something with their subchannels. If that happens I could get either one of them OTA.

Here's my current list of affiliates, as pulled from MeTV's website.

http://www.rabbitears.info/search.php?request=network_search&network=MeTV

I do not know for sure which subchannel any of the "coming soon" stations will be on. That is, I suspect at least some of these MeTV additions will be replacing RTV and/or weather subchannels, but without confirmation, I've just listed them as additional subchannels for the moment.

I'm thinking the article means stations within those groups. Me-TV wouldn't air on all their stations.. too much overlapping within those groups.

Trip getting back to my lightening bolt comment about WSB.......I don't see them on the list.

The guys in Phoenix: I can't believe the station would have such a poll. Other than us on this
board and Chicago, Milwaukee, most people have never heard of it. Now, if they listed some
shows.........that would be better for a poll.

So, we all thought Me-TV was dragging their feet on getting affiliates........when actually they
were working very hard on it. GO ME-TV! Surely this was quite frustrating for Antenna TV. I
think if I had a station(s) I would dangle Antenna TV in front of Me-TV and try to get a better deal.

Station: "Thanks for calling, Antenna TV, but we just signed the deal yesterday with Me-TV."
Antenna: "Oh ($*#(@ !"
