ARTICLE CLAIMS ME-TV TO SOON BE IN 45% OF THE COUNTRY

BIG improvement for WSB over Retro TV. I'm watching twice as much now.

The show I tend to watch most is Mary Tyler Moore which hasn't seen air time in years.
They're almost like all new shows again, and it's not as dated as you might think.
That's on at 8, if nothing on the other networks worth watching.

The Honeymooners are on at 10:30. Nice that they are showing some of the lesser seen
episodes.......instead of the same GREAT 15 over and over.
 
We don't have a Me-Tv affiliate in NYC, but I looked at their schedule and I don't see the appeal of the network. Most of the shows are much too old for my taste. The only shows I would watch are Bob Newhart and Taxi. I much prefer RTV's shows (Emergency, Hulk, Magnum, Simon&Simon, Rockford Files)

MeTV actually does a good job of resurrecting the feeling of the classic "independent" channels that many of us grew up with. When there's nothing else on, MeTV (and it's local sister in Chicago MeToo) always have SOMETHING on that's worth watching. And it's not hard to see why Weigel's MeTV franchise is cleaning up when compared with the likes of RTV and Antenna TV: it offers a slicker, more hip, presentation. Much more professional than the clearly low-budget RTV. And, who designed Antenna TV's logo and graphics? They look like crap. They need to get back into the graphics program and redesign their entire package.

As for you Ansky212, there are dozens of milquetoast networks on cable filled with vapid, contemporary shows to suit your tastes.

Me-TV is up and running here in Southern California, over KDOC 56.3...just launched early this morning. I've been at work, so I haven't had the opportunity to watch, so I'll catch it later tonight.

Looking at their schedule, most of their lineup contains shows that KDOC has carried once before (Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, My Three Sons, Beverly Hillbillies) or shows they already have rights to on their main channel (Star Trek, Perry Mason, M*A*S*H--although it was replaced in the weekday lineup by Barney Miller recently). Here's hoping they can get cable carriage for Me-TV locally, just as KTLA's Antenna TV was just recently picked up by Time Warner and Charter systems in the area.

HAHA. So true.

I do like some of Antenna TV's shows, and some of RTV's shows. I just feel that MeTV has the best BALANCE of shows....dramas, sitcoms...50s through 80s...the CBS and 20th libraries are probably two of the best there are. I agree with the post about MeTV being sleek; the promos are so sophisticated and creative. Weigel knows and loves classic TV. Reminds me of the way Nick at Nite used to be.

From what I've seen of Antenna, they look like crap, I agree. Website does too. RTV looks like it's run from a closet. If it weren't for Antenna TV, we would probably not have the national MeTV, as the national MeTV was announced 2 weeks before Antenna launched; seemed like a knee-jerk reaction. Weigel has probably wanted to take MeTV national for quite a while, but they saw Antenna as a threat to that so they went ahead and did it. Funny, because MeTV is doing much better than Antenna TV now!
 
Can't you imagine the RTV headquarters in Chattanooga...... they must have like 100
whatever things running shows at the same time that they are feeding to their affiliates.
Kinda like hampsters spinning a wheel in a cage.

We got it last night on WJAC and its much better than RTV. I showed my uncle who has satellite a copy of their schedule and he is installing an antenna to get it. I cant wait for them to add Star Trek this fall.

Funny that while Antenna TV may not be doing as well in other markets compared to Me-TV, but in Sacramento, California, Antenna TV is kicking both Me-TV and RTV's butt. Antenna TV is on a Full Powered TV Station that is also carried on Cable TV in the northern Central Valley while both Me-TV & RTV are relegated to LPTV digital subchannels that cannot go beyond the Sacramento Metropolitan Area and is NOT carried on any Cable Systems.

Has MeTV added any stations in the last 3 months that WASN'T a former RTV affiliate? Seems their stratagem is to knock RTV out of a market (or moved over to an LPTV) ,and keep ANTENNA TV from coming in!

ANTENNA TV seems to be slow in picking up new affiliates - Makes you wonder if Tribune is even making any headway into new markets?

The aforementioned KDOC here in Southern California. Speaking of which, I was catching an episode of Beverly Hillbillies this morning before heading to work...I have to say that the picture quality on the local MeTV is slightly better than KTLA's Antenna TV, although KTLA has a stronger signal than KDOC where I live. On the episode I saw, I've noticed that they truncated the opening credits, cutting off the opening part of "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" and going straight to the introduction of the cast. This particular episode was, I believe, from the final season.

It is bad enough to have a logo bug on the corner of the screen or even speeding the end credits but to truncate the opening credits should be a sin for any channel specializing in Retro Programming. They should be showing the original network shows instead of the edited for syndicated TV versions.

I wonder about them, too. While I believe it is sub-par to MeTV, I think it's a pretty good channel and I would like to see it in my area. I don't know what's wrong with them. MeTV has MGM helping them out with distribution, and that's probably a big help and Weigel/MGM have experience working together with THIS TV - they have to have the best coverage of any of these networks....like 150 affiliates, IIRC.

National MeTV seemed to be a reaction to Antenna TV....I mean, it's pretty obvious, it launched like 2 weeks before Antenna TV and was announced/put on the air pretty quickly. It seems to me that they are probably trying to snag these stations before they would decide to go with Antenna TV instead. I would agree that they are probably trying to get these stations to keep Antenna TV out of the way, and in the process, they get to take RTV off of some full-power affiliates.

Did MeTV steal Antenna TV's thunder? It seems like it was highly anticipated but came to a standstill. They announced it like a year ago and the majority of the stations carrying it are Tribune/Local TV (which is pretty much Tribune, I believe) owned.
 
Are there any chances MeTV might be coming over to Houston anytime soon? More likely it would might be on KHOU11, because most of MeTV's programming comes from CBS TV Distribution-In which there is a direct connection.
