Artie Lange says goodbye to the Howard Stern Show

  • Thread starter Corned Beef and Cabbage
  • Start date

It's real. Lange has been deteriorating on the show. It's clear to me hearing him that he is sometimes high during the program. The other day he was slurring as he spoke well beyond his normal self. No one on the show does anything but makes fun of it and his condition. Let's see if Sirius lets him back. I would tell him to go to drug rehab or be fired. He needs help. This trip he is now on in Amsterdam will not be good for him. Now he can do all the drugs he wants there. Sad, sad case, and sad the show has let this go on.

While Artie is in Amsterdam so is Teddy the assistant.
The audio from the incident is up on YouTube in three parts as it's nearly half an hour long. Here.
I hope Artie gets the help he needs.

It surprises me it took this long to get a post about what happened on this board...Even on the NY Radio Board, it didn't attract much attention until the last few days.

Does anybody even care about Stern anymore? Doesn't seem he is generating much interest since he is on satellite.

Would this not been sort of the talk of the town of he was still on terrestrial radio?

This board is 99.9% about terrestrial radio so it doesn't surprise me that Stern isn't talked about. He is discussed on the stern fan boards so I wouldn't expect much talk here or anywhere else. And satellite radio is not like terrestrial so doesn't garnish the same type of talk as terrestrial. Go to the one Sirius board on this website and you'll see a different type of topic and discussion than the terrestrial boards. I know I have a difficult time listening to terrestrial radio these days(Sirius subscriber fro day one) and I also know that for me satellite radio has more knowns and is less "fanboy radio" and more "professional" listening for me so I don't discuss it much.

The heroin joke on his Jimmy Kimmel app. was eerie...as in I am hoping it doesn't become a soundbite. Liked Artie a lot on the terr. show but not a sat. subscriber and haven't heard/seen him in the last few years.

All I can say is.....wow. Sounds out of control and making a big deal over nothing. That's not a good sign. It's hard to "stunt" a mindset.

That fight seemed very real. I don't know the backstory on Artie and his assistant...have they always been at odds with each other? Do you think he is really gone from the show for good?

Garnish?! LOL...I think you meant *garner* as much attention.

That's because Stern is no longer a New York radio program: New Yawkers have to pay to play just like the same as someone in Wichita and most Stern listeners did not get Sirius when Howard decided he'd rather be very rich than have a large audience (that's the Delta Burke philospohy: when asked about bad PR, the actress said, "When I was young I wanted to be rich AND famous. Knowing what I do now, I would have just gone for rich.").

I know that's not the point in radio... but that's a hard philosophy to argue with ;D

Actually Stern is a very NY/east coast-centric radio program to this day. Of themMillion people who listen to him each day, most are in the NY area.

The biggest reason why you don't hear folks talk about him is that he has such a small listening audience that is more a fan base. They talk about him on the fan boards. It's us disenchanted folks who mention him every now and then at places like this. Other than that,w hat is there rally to tlak about. It's a tired show with rich people talking about how hard their rich lives are.

Artie Lange returns to the show this morning..he got off way too easily though. He's going down a self destructive pattern the same as Chris Farley did. He should've been suspended atleast.

figured it was all the usual jackie-style hype/hoax;
so predictable and played out, can't believe people still listen to this

Agreed to a certain extent, but at least Artie can sing in tune. Shouldn't you be at your voice lesson?

Must be great to have so many points of nostalgia.

And I guess it's 'punk' to constantly use bold fonts. Nice work-keep the dream alive.

...bold fonts are the closest this board has to overmodulation-and-distortion. Unfortunatey, in lalumia's hands it sometimes comes off as trying to emulate The Damned and falling short about the level of "Crazy Horses" or "Hocus Pocus" ;D ...
