As I Have Said Before,....Never A Shortage Of Good Product:

S

As I was paging through the, fresh from my P.O. Box, September issue of GOLDMINE, I see where the Jacksons have filed bankruptcy, and are selling anything & everything to recover. Sure, it's sad, I not insensitive, but like I said, collectively, they're not ELVIS! Both Janet, and LaToyota are parting with several pairs of high-heels....Fredev, here's your chance for some new footwear, at good price!

I've been reading Goldmine, since '77, and have written for them several times, over the years. In paging through, first I had to see if my ad for my November vinyl show was in this issue...+plus new product a-plenty! A new studio album from Mr. Big, Tom Petty, and the late Johnny Winter. The Buzz is still out about THE EMPTY HEARTS, and THE BABYS have reformed. Tony Brock & Wally Stocker, have acquired use of the name, and hired Guitarist, Joey Sykes, and John Bisaha for Bass, and Lead vocals. You can here it on Spotify. It's a good LP effort, with Bisaha singing his ass off, but here comes the Pencilnecks with the "No John Waite cloud". Hey!...Grow up, grow a set, and grant some airplay to all this new product,....and remember.....
I AM THE HELL HOUND ON YOUR TRAIL!
Scooter Lesley.

In addition to all the attention Worldwide, that the New Babys LP is getting, Mr. Big has a new studio offering, and new Live pieces from both Stryper, and the original ASIA line-up....John Wetton's voice is still amazing. ROQ,....here's your answer...past those repetitive 5-shares. When it comes to this, I'm never wrong!

Followers of the truth,...as usual, JeffM has tapped-in, and still making about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine. We expect it, Jethro!

Even though they have had two "Final" tours, and have retired more times than Terry Funk, Mr. Big has a new studio album; from the original four. Elton John with an new live piece, but the Live one that everyone seems to be talking about is that of Brian May. Much like Ritchie Blackmore, May is too...a Renaissance Man. Since Queen is only Roger & Himself now, the experiments have all been interesting. This one, "Live At Montroux features mainly May on Acoustic Guitar, with a Smokin' HAWTT Blond Broadway Vocalist Extraordinaire, Kerry Ellis. ....and yes, they perform a few Queen songs. It is truly Excellent,...if like I...you enjoy Blackmore's Night.

But the music was good. It sounded like the station I listen to most wasn't going to play anything but 70s between 9 and 10 this morning. Barry Manilow, James Taylor, Bread, John Denver ... oh, wait, Bread was after 10. That was right after it was announced everyone had gone to the Moon.

Again, we read the drastically underwhelming wisdom of JethroM.....painting himself into a corner. Current Releases are just that....Current, this year. If you wanna blame ROQ for giving 70's Rock a bad name, I'll toast! What I listed, in my last post, was current,....and available for Airplay. Airplay that would lessen the burn on what they play to death, and freshen some of the staleness out of their Broadcast Day! A few days ago, the Rock World lost vocalist extraordinaire Jimi Jamison:
Target 1976-77, Cobra 1983, his own Solo work, he sang every SURVIVOR Hit, except "Eye Of The Tiger"(David Bickler), co-wrote, and sang the theme to Baywatch.
As usual, much like the recent death of Johnny Winter, no Rock station bothers to pay tribute. In 2011, Jamison teamed with former TOTO front man, Bobby Kimball, to record, KIMBALL/JAMISON, considered by many Rock journalists, including myself, as the Best Rock Album that year. A Vocal War, to say the least!

I'm more surprised Cooter didn't attack vchimp for mentioning Messrs. Manilow, Taylor, and Denver. After all, by his standards those artists would be categorized as wussy elevator music, not "real" rock 'n' roll. (He is, after all, the hell chihuahua on your trail, yip yip yip...)

As for the My/Magic double-dose AC mess in this market, one or both will eventually hire someone that actually knows how to FIX IT. As I have said before, there has never been a shortage of Product.....You just have to know What it is,....and Where on the Playlist to put it.

V-monkey has moments of brilliance.....regardless of their age, Manilow, Bread, James Taylor, Carole King,...and the late John Denver are staples, and their songs can offer a "Rest" to lessen the burn on a playlist, that's been burnt since Michelle O'Bama stuck her fruit magnets on the big white frig.

JethroM, and The Royal "A"-ness are always painted in a corner, and blaming the Consultant for getting paint on their shoes!

Well,...readers, followers, and/or those keeping score on the home version, apparently, JethroM, and TheBig-"A"-ness, have allegedly found fault in me, and have returned to the nose picking, scab farming, keyboard pecking, juvenile chore of Little Weenie One-Liners. I just don't know how.....I can continue on?

As for still,....more new product, I've been skimming through the new T.P. & The Heartbreakers, "Hypnotic Eye".....another reeeeeealy good offering from the band.
All cuts worthy of Airplay.......ROQ, get on it! The new Ace Frehley is a surprise. I guess he's figured that he needs to make it his own way, as the KISS gig is really gone for both him, and Peter. It's one of his best, as ACE, the solo artist. Frehley's Comet was more of a band effort. Again,...ROQ,....wake up!

How can we compete in those areas with an expert like yourself?

Bryan Adams has a new release...."The Tracks Of My Years", mostly covers, except for one new tune, "She Knows Me". If you surf the net, and/or have Spotify, you should be aware of such, as the ads are O-Plenty! "Anytime At All", The Beatles cover, sounds very good. Now, let me ask, will this album get any Airplay here or are we just going to play the same ol'? The fresh new Country product works for WSSL,......

Who would play it? The current stations have no shortage of current product, and the classic stations have no shortage of classic product. As you yourself say: There is never a shortage of good product. So when an album like this comes along, there's no room.

Well,....Gentlemen of the D-Board, once again, his royal "A"-ness, has enlightened us all with his embryo wisdom, and tiny toooodul-doodulege:
Current Product: Yes, Plenty of Awwwww-ful, label driven, Pencilneck Consultant Approved, All Rap/Part Rap, Horse Manure product!
Classic Product: Yes, there is plenty of Classic Product, but it's not getting airplay! Short-Shallow, Allegedly Auditorium Tested, Consultant Approved, Old Dry Crusty Horse Manure!

Status Quo, Burnt Playlists will consistently.......give you what you deserve. Single digit, barely breathing,....4 & 5 shares, while the Countrys relish 9's & up!
Don't do the MATH,....just look at it!

You realize you live in the south, right? Country music is big in the south. Even Hootie deserted rock for country. Playing the new Bryan Adams isn't going to change that.
