At Least CC Knows Giant Talent — Gator to Chattanooga

From a past thread on this board:

I get the impression only one person posting on this topic doesn't know who M---- M---- is. It seems most of us do. In my opinion he has a great show and act (at least did on his last station). I've often wondered why more of that station's talent hasn't been gobbled up by Nashville stations.

Well, at least Clear Channel Chattanooga knows how to gobble, as they're set to bring the Country Giant's Gator Harrison to big-stick US101 (WUSY) as Operations manager.

Now is there any displaced or looking Nashville talent that wants to try their hand at winning a small market CMA?

AHHH! So much mixed emotion. Congrats to Gator, but man! I've listened to him for nearly 14 years religiously on the Giant - Since I was a kid. It's pathetic how saddened I am personally by the news of not being able to hear him over the local airwaves come August. Too bad KDF or the Wolf didn't step up first. Congrats though Gator, you deserve WUSY and then some (Honestly, WSIX could even benefit from him). First Marty, now Gator. At least Marty will be local (however can't listen to him at work because co-workers constantly complain about his co-host). Well, guess I'll have to find a new morning show come August. May just have to listen to commercials being periodically interrupted by Gerry House. I guess this is how so many felt when Eddie Fox was relocated.

Gator officially announced the move on the air this morning. It was the most heart-felt thing I've ever heard on the radio - Awesome, Christian guy. Gator & Stykman made a phenomenal team. The sound clip is on their website and their FB page has had quite a bit of supportive activity from listeners. Just thought I would share.

For that talent to have stayed in Cookevegass that long is a substantial tribute to Gator's integrity. I know he left Nashville way back when for a more positive direction. Having spent time in the good ole Cookeville market, it blows my mind that Gator stayed. I hope you do well down East! You will feel right at home. Makes me almost miss Cookeville.

Why would they sell just one after such a short time. Got details? I'd consider that if the price was reasonable. Still even C-vegas is a bit over radioed.

It's obvious that the Giant is Cookeville Communication's best asset and the one that would sell quickly or likely to be desired by other companies. If this is a true rumor, either they need the money or they aren't refusing hefty offers like the previous owners did.

Didn't CC get $7.4M or something for those stations? Why would they split up the semi-cluster? That intrigues me.

im in cookeville every day just something i heard some folks discussing..not radio people..so consider the source i guess..but they were business people..not tobacco farmers..........

If a local radio company buys it, I know who it would be, I think. Could be interesting. It would have to be a cash deal. I would say Cookeville sure felt the economic slowdown and timing had everything working against positive when CC sold off. Kick a few cans and you may find your
answer is easier to kind than you thought. I always found it to be that way there.

Good for Crap Channel! Just wish they would get a clue and replace some of those no talent jocks they have at the LITTLE 98 WSIX.
