Atlanta AIR Awards postponed this year due to lack of funding

I spoke with Paul O'Malley of Cumulus. He confirmed that the Achievement in Radio (AIR) Awards this year for March of Dimes has been postponed due to the challenge of raising funds. Normally, the event is in early December. For years, it was a luncheon. In the past five years or so, it's been an evening event at a hotel. Much of the money comes from radio stations buying tables but this year, obviously, spare money for charity is very spare indeed.

Postponed is the wrong way to parse this unless they plan to have it before December 31, 2009. It's an annual event, therefore it has been canceled. It has little basis in reality and has become irrelevant. The sheer fact that anyone associated with Cumulus is connected to it should tell you something.

I am sorry to hear that for the charity. On the plus side, I am glad to hear it won't be taking place because Kate McCarthy was going to call out Jordan Graye. Speaking of those two; is it true that Jordan is now dating Todd Schnitt while Kate is having a long-distance romance with M.J. Kelli?

Paul O'Malley is with Citadel... not Cumulus. Fact check Rodney - or hell, at the very least re-read your stuff before posting. Gee-whiz.

You're right. Citadel. And yes, it has been cancelled. Sorry. Posted that in a rush before I left the office...
