Atlanta Radio Ratings: February 2023

Also there is no Classic Hits station in Atlanta. That helps 99X as well, which airs some artists found on Classic Hits stations such as The Police, Pet Shop Boys, 4 Non Blondes, EMF, Talking Heads, The Clash etc.

You can't go back and undue what were IMHO bad decisions, but I always wondered after the Dickies left, why didn't Cumulus but Rock 100 on 106.7, and put an Urban or the failing talk on 100.5. The Zip codes in the 60 db of 106.7 are more friendly to non urban music than 100.5. I would like to see a county break down of the new 99X on 100.5 listeners. I would bet a cheap cup of coffee that they have more listeners out side of 285 than inside. The decision to sell 106.7 might have looked good for a quarter or two but IMHO but a classic pop or rock music on 106.7 would have generated more revenue than 100.5 and 106.7 combined. I really figured Cumulus would have screwed their lenders enough in bankruptcy to have kept 106.7.

IMHO Cumulus really needs to swap 100.5 with 105.7, or 107.5 or figure out how to upgrade 100.5.

Meanwhile, 101.5 was hanging with (and occasionally beating) The Bull (6+) until Christmas. What happened?

Cumulus, while they were in BK, might not have had a choice to not sell 106.7 to an interested, willing, and moneyed buyer. Heck, I'm a little surprised they didn't have to sell off more signals.

Agreed. This also supports my theory that a lot of their listeners came from sources other than terrestrial radio.

Their playlist dovetails nicely with River's.

That happened post-bankruptcy. They were not forced to sell it, but the creditors during bankruptcy became the owners of Cumulus, and they didn't want to be owners. Subsequent to Cumulus's sale of several stations including 106.7 to EMF, radio values became too low to sell even for the reluctant owners of Cumulus.
