Atlanta's Greatest Hits adds more 60s and 1984-88 songs

In a strange dichotomy, Atlanta's Greatest Hits added more recent songs and older songs the past few days. I looked at October 13 vs. October 30. The pct of songs from the 1980s dropped from 25 to 22% but the no. of songs from 1984-88 went up while 80-83 dropped sharply. Most of the 1970s took a dip, too, with the decade's representation on the playlist falling from 62% to 51%. The 1960s doubled from 13% Oct. 13 to 27% Oct. 30.

The station has brought back the Supremes, the Beach Boys, the Lovin' Spoonful, Elvis, et. al. New 80s adds include Cherry Bomb (1987) You Give Love a Bad Name (1986) and Walking on Sunshine (1985) Most played songs previously were spun maybe 10 times a week. Now the top rotation songs (still mostly 70s songs) are being played 11 to 16 times a week or more than twice a day vs. 8 to 10 times a week before hand.

They play 3 80's an hour. For me that's to much. Atlanta needs the TOC back period!
I like the 80s myself, but the current format is too schizoid and overlaps with Journey too much. Put Journey on 106.7 and bring back TOC on 100.5.

I think I've figured them out.

They sound like they are using sombody's old (oldies) reel tapes that were made in 1999. Many
songs that were played stong in 1999 have now faded.........but they're still TOPS at 106.7.

I could live with that as long as TOC is back on the air. Too many R&B songs on 106.7 How about some good ol British Invasion music!

As someone posted on another thread they tried to blame Randy & Spif for their problems,
but in fact it was the music bringing them down. In spite of what AM Lover says, the music
took a dive about two months ago. They are actually sounding so bad right now, True
Oldies might be an improvement..............but that's not saying much and it won't help them
with their ratings either.
