If anybody would know,it might be the radio people in St.Louis.I've gotten information that Gayle McCormick, former lead singer of the one hit wonder group Smith, who had a Top 10 hit in 1969 with a cover of "Baby It's You" and had a minor hit on her own in 1971 with "It's A Cryin' Shame"(preserved for posterity on one of the Rhino Records "Have A Nice Day" CDs).I always thought she was a great talent,(and not bad looking either)who should have had more success than she had.She seemed to stop making records around 1975 or 1976.One would assume that she got tired of the music business and "retired" to her hometown of St.Louis.Has anybody got any info? The reason being someone (not me) has a "tribute" website on her and would like to hear from her.(Gayle can contact the webmaster of the site directly at [email protected] )Any info would be appreciated.

I have heard the same. The story I heard is that Gayle returned to St. Louis to be the caregiver to her mother who likely had a prolonged illness. She supposedly worked in a department store in a mall in St. Louis before retiring.
