ATTENTION ALL Q CREW MEMBERS AND KZQ FANS-WKZQ REUNION!!!

Since 1973, WKZQ-FM has supplied our industry with some of the best radio talent around and, for at least one stretch of time in the late 70s into the 80s, some of the best radio ever. Ever since it was just a gleam in Tom Rogers' and Bill Hennecy's eyes, KZQ has been a legendary broadcasting promise to the listener that, "YOU are about to have a BLAST, so strap yourself in!". Consequently, WKZQ has been the epitomy of broadcast excellence from the beginning and is considered a fraternity by its former employees and a lifelong friend by its listeners. It is for these reasons that the very first WKZQ Reunion ever is being planned for late summer-early fall in Myrtle Beach. If you ever worked at KZQ(or WTGR), ever listened to KZQ or were ever in radio and loved the KZQ presentation and/or lusted after a job at KZQ, you are invited to register at WKZQReunion.com to share your KZQ stories, pictures and memories and to keep abreast of Reunion updates. This is going to be a celebration of and for the WKZQ Story, and if you ever worked for or listened to the "Q", you're a big part of that story.

Is the guy who used to say "Rock 101.7 KZQ" also the one who does the monster truck commercials and the March Madness radio commercials?

I think that guy does NFL Radio Network stuff, too, and while he was KZQ's voice guy for a while, the guy who did KZQ's voice from the early 80's through the early 90's was KZQ alum Henry Kaye.

They just recently dropped him. Could he be a different guy than the one you mentioned?

This guy has a really evil-sounding voice.

I guess anything's possible. I just know that voice from the NFL Radio Net. He sounds pretty evil, now that you mention it, but he's been the 'flavor of the month' for rock stations for a few years, so if they dropped him, there's another one out there.

Who did the early Energy 102 Voice overs... this is when I thought KZQ was best,,, before 90-91....

If I'm not mistaken, Henry Kaye was doing the voice for the "Q" when I worked there in 1985. Not sure about before him back when they were pulling 70 shares. You can register on the website (in fact, I wish everyone who is/was a fan of KZQ when it was in it's heyday would register at WKZQReunion.com) and ask that question or any other. It's for fans as well as former employees. We've already gotten a ton of the people registered who made the "Q" great. Please check it out. It's got some super pictures and airchecks posted.
